Backstage details have emerged regarding Oba Femi’s fiery confrontation directed at World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns following the Money in the Bank premium live event.
Oba Femi’s Post-Show Comments
During the Money in the Bank post-show press conference, King of the Ring winner Oba Femi turned his attention straight to the “OTC,” declaring: “Tribal Chief, no more running. It’s about that time.”
While the pointed warning led many fans to believe a title match was right around the corner, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Femi’s comments were entirely improvised on the spot.
- Reacting to the Energy: According to internal reports, Femi was simply playing off the electric live crowd, leaning into the immediate reaction without any formal creative mandate to accelerate a championship program.
- Long-Term Plans Unchanged: Meltzer confirmed that despite the sudden callout, WWE has no intention of booking the match for the immediate future or upcoming pay-per-view cycles like Survivor Series (where Roman Reigns is expected to participate in the traditional men’s WarGames match).
- WrestleMania 43 Target: The definitive long-term creative plan for a singles showdown between Femi and Reigns remains pencilled in for WrestleMania 43.
Continuing the Trajectory
Femi previously crossed paths with Reigns during the WrestleMania 42 post-show. Though Femi earned a world championship opportunity by winning the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, he famously bypassed an immediate title shot at SummerSlam to instead settle a personal score with Brock Lesnar.
While “The Ruler” clearly has his eyes set firmly on the World Heavyweight Championship picture, fans will likely have to wait until next year’s showcase in Riyadh to see the two powerhouse forces collide on the grandest stage.
