Backstage news has emerged following TNA Bound For Glory 2026 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, revealing key details surrounding Max Caster’s sudden release, internal interest in former WWE Superstar Sheamus, and updates on rising independent talent.
Update on Max Caster’s Departure & TV Taping Plans
Following Caster’s controversial freestyle entrance rap referencing recent international events in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, TNA officially severed ties with the former AEW star on Monday.
- Original TV Plans: Prior to the fallout, TNA management had discussed potentially bringing Caster to this week’s television tapings at the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, Alabama.
- Caster’s Expectations: Despite those internal discussions, Caster had already indicated to close confidants prior to Sunday’s pay-per-view that he expected his Bound For Glory appearance to be a one-off date rather than the start of a full-time run.
Clarification on Sheamus Negotiations
Reports also provided clarification regarding TNA’s interest in former WWE Champion Sheamus ahead of Bound For Glory:
- Not an Either/Or Scenario: TNA officials did make contact with Sheamus regarding a potential marquee appearance at the pay-per-view, though sources clarify it was never a scenario where TNA chose Caster over Sheamus.
- Financial Gaps & Status: As recently as two weeks prior to the event, Sheamus had not committed to an appearance. Furthermore, there was a massive financial gap between the asking price for booking Sheamus compared to Caster’s deal.
TNA Eyeing Independent Standout Ben Bishop & Upcoming Tapings
Beyond the headline-grabbing news, TNA management continues to scout outside talent:
- Ben Bishop Update: Independent standout Ben Bishop had not officially signed a TNA contract as of Sunday. However, he made a strong positive impression on company officials who have been tracking his progress for months.
- Dothan TV Tapings: Multiple independent wrestlers are slated to be backstage for TNA’s television tapings on October 13 and October 14 in Dothan, Alabama, which remains standard practice for the promotion when filling out dark matches and extra roles.
