Former WWE World Champion Sheamus (Stephen Farrelly) is officially on the open market after completing his contractual obligations and non-compete window with WWE.
Following reports three months ago that Farrelly declined a restructured contract extension with the company, WWE kept the four-time World Champion under contract through the remainder of his term, effectively serving as a paid non-compete period. That timeline officially concluded on October 2, 2026, granting him full legal freedom to negotiate with and appear for rival promotions.
Preparing For Post-WWE Career Under New Ring Name
In anticipation of his free-agency status, Farrelly has already begun rebranding his personal accounts and wrestling identity. Adopting the name “S. Farrelly”—a direct reference to his real name—the 48-year-old veteran took to social media on October 2 to showcase his physical conditioning while putting prospective promotions on notice.
“All challengers welcome – S. Farrelly”
Farrelly’s departure concludes a historic 17-year run under the WWE banner since signing with the organization in 2007. During his tenure, he achieved near-unparalleled success, capturing four World Championships, three United States Championships, five Tag Team Championships, alongside Royal Rumble, King of the Ring, and Money in the Bank victories.
Potential Landing Spots & AEW Interest
Now that Farrelly is a unencumbered free agent, speculation surrounding his next destination has intensified. All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is widely reported to be interested in adding the decorated heavyweight to its roster, backed by vocal support from roster members like his former The Bar tag team partner, Claudio Castagnoli.
While no formal agreement or ink-on-paper contract has been confirmed at this time, Farrelly possesses the immediate leverage to sign a deal and step into any ring worldwide.
