The bitter fallout between former WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest and R-Truth spilled over away from weekly television on September 24.
WWE released official footage captured at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, showing Priest viciously ambushing Truth during what was intended to be a routine visit with medical trainers.
R-Truth Speaks On Broken Personal Friendship
Prior to the surprise attack, Truth spoke emotionally on camera about Priest’s recent heel turn on WWE SmackDown, emphasizing that the betrayal cut far deeper than a standard professional split:
“Bro, Damian Priest was my friend, dog. It’s way worse than just like a tag team is over, friendship is done. Damian would talk to my son. Me, Damian, his dad just hung out.”
Truth went on to question Priest’s drastic decision to end their partnership through violence rather than a civil conversation:
“Like he found the worst way possible to make this change he wanted to make. Whatever change he wanted to make, man, we could have made it together.”
The Ambush At The Performance Center
Midway through Truth’s interview, Priest blindsided his former tag team partner, mounting him and landing a barrage of strikes. The “Archer of Infamy” repeatedly hurled Truth against equipment and wall barriers while screaming in his face:
“You understanding now? It’s still funny to you? Is it still funny to you?”
Priest continued the physical assault before delivering a cold parting statement, cementing that any personal bond between the two was permanently destroyed:
“No more buddies, no more jokes, no more. I should be a champion instead of wasting my time with you. Go bother somebody else.”
The brutal encounter builds directly upon Priest’s heel turn on the September 11 episode of SmackDown, where he attacked Truth following their inability to capture the AAA World Tag Team Championship from The War Raiders.
