With the highly anticipated WWE x AAA Worlds Collide crossover event scheduled for Saturday, September 26, at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, confusion surrounds how and when fans will actually be able to view the broadcast.
Despite selling over 12,000 tickets for the Chicago-area arena show, WWE and AAA have yet to formally announce an official streaming home or broadcast strategy. The air of mystery deepened following comments made by veteran commentator JBL on Something To Wrestle.
JBL Reveals Commentary Will Be Called Post-Fact
Speaking on the podcast, JBL confirmed that he will not be traveling to Chicago to call the event live at ringside, explaining that broadcast plans have repeatedly shifted:
“I’m not going to be there. We’re going to call it post fact. I’m not going to be there. They asked if I would come in, I said, ‘Absolutely, I’d be happy to.’ But they’re not bringing in announcers.”
When pressed on whether he knew if or where Worlds Collide would ultimately air, the WWE Hall of Famer acknowledged that the internal roadmap has been a moving target behind the scenes:
“I don’t know. Things have changed so much. They called me two or three weeks ago and said, ‘Would you mind coming in?’ I said, ‘I’d be happy to.’ I know most things are remote in Mexico. I told them I’d be happy to come to Chicago, but things changed.”
“What they told us initially, this was a few weeks ago, is that we would probably voice it over next week. They may have changed that since, I don’t know.”
