The dramatic victory brings an end to Mysterio’s 365-day reign as champion on his fourth official title defense, closing out Triplemanía 34 Night 2 at Arena CDMX in front of a wild crowd.
External Interference Escalates Arena CDMX Main Event
With No Disqualification rules in effect, the main event quickly descended into absolute pandemonium involving multiple factions and outside stars:
- Los Americanos Counter Judgment Day: Judgment Day member J.D. McDonagh attempted to interfere on Mysterio’s behalf, but Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano rushed the arena to neutralize him. In the night’s biggest stunt, Bravo climbed to the top of the entrance stage and executed a high-risk dive onto McDonagh and a sea of security guards.
- Omos & Liv Morgan Step In: Omos—aligned with Mysterio under the El Ojo banner—entered the ring and physically dominated Americano. Moments later, former WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan arrived at ringside to help Mysterio keep control of the championship.
Injured Rey Mysterio Makes Shocking Appearance To Count The Pinfall
After the match referee was accidentally knocked unconscious during the chaos, Americano capitalized and leveled Mysterio with his signature torpedo headbutt.
With no official available to render the count, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio made a shocking sprint down the entrance ramp wearing a neck brace and a referee shirt. Rey had been stretchered out and powerbombed through a table by Omos just 48 hours prior during Night 1 in Las Vegas.
Defying his injuries, Rey slid into the ring and counted the fast three-count, officially crowning El Grande Americano as the new AAA Mega Champion.
