Lainey Reid Refuses to Apologize for Chelsea Green’s Injury on SmackDown

Lainey Reid has finally spoken about Chelsea Green’s fractured orbital bone, and she made it clear she has no regrets. Reid addressed the situation during an appearance on Busted Open Radio, where she dismissed the idea that she should apologize and instead took credit for what happened. Her comments suggested she sees the injury as proof of Fatal Influence’s physical style rather than a mistake.

Reid was asked about Green getting hurt during the Rolling Encore, the team’s tag‑team finisher. She immediately pointed out that Green returned to television only days later, saying the injury clearly wasn’t severe enough to keep her off SmackDown. Reid said, “Well, apparently not enough, because she came back out Friday and maybe had the best segment of her career, so you’re welcome, by the way. But I’m just saying, that moment doesn’t happen without Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley.”

Reid continued by explaining that her approach in the ring is built around strong‑style offense. She said Fatal Influence brings a level of physicality that WWE hasn’t showcased in years, and anyone stepping into the ring with them should be prepared for it. She then delivered the line that will likely stay with Chelsea Green for a long time. Reid said, “I’m a strong‑style wrestler. I think Fatal Influence is a strong style that people haven’t seen in years. So if you’re not ready for the way we’re coming, you might be in trouble. The only remorse I have is she still has the chance to compete for the title. The remorse is I didn’t finish the job.”

The injury occurred during Green and Tiffany Stratton’s tag team match against Reid and Fallon Henley. Fatal Influence hit the Rolling Encore at the finish, and the move looked normal on television. Later, Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reid came down on Green’s head during the landing, causing the fracture.

Green returned to SmackDown on August 14, but she wasn’t cleared to compete. Nick Aldis told her WWE’s medical team would not authorize her to wrestle with a broken eye socket and asked her to surrender the WWE Women’s Championship. Green refused, pleading for more time. Aldis agreed to give her 30 days to get medically cleared, leaving her title reign in jeopardy if she cannot return within that window.

Reid’s comments show she has no intention of softening her stance. Fatal Influence continues to present themselves as a dangerous team, and Reid’s remarks suggest she sees Green’s injury as proof of their dominance rather than an accident.
