Rhea Ripley vs Jade Cargill Social Media Feud: Scripted or Real Tension?

Rhea Ripley Jade Cargill Feud – The recent online clash between Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley has fans talking a lot. New reports show that while the social media posts look heated, they are part of a planned story. But the words used hit close to real feelings in the WWE locker room.

Dave Meltzer talked about this on Wrestling Observer Radio. He made it clear that the back-and-forth is not a real fight, or “shoot,” because WWE does not allow its stars to do that kind of thing on social media. The company bans personal attacks like that from talent online.

Rhea Ripley posted this message during the exchange: “Not having fun. Not friends. Learn to work and never lie to defame someone’s real human character by ‘breaking the 4th wall.’”

Even though the posts are scripted to build hype, Meltzer said the criticisms of Cargill match what he has heard from several women in the WWE women’s division. These comments started around a year ago, soon after a reported issue with Shayna Baszler in March 2025.

In that earlier backstage moment, Cargill pointed to a bruise on her arm after a match and told Baszler she needed to learn how to work. Baszler replied sharply: “If I was shooting, you and I would both know.”

Meltzer explained that some wrestlers feel frustrated. They see Cargill getting big pushes mainly because of her standout look, not because of strong in-ring skills or promo work. He said: “It’s natural with the resentment of her being pushed while not being good in the ring or anything special on promos, but completely due to her unique look.”

He added that many women in the division think they are better wrestlers and deserve the same chances. This leads to real resentment: “Most of the women believe they are better and didn’t get the same chances, which leads to resentment.”

The online feud seems designed to make fans think it’s real, especially with other stars like Chelsea Green and Piper Niven joining in on Ripley’s side. This helps create buzz for their big match, likely at WrestleMania. WWE uses real locker room views to make the story feel true, a tactic called “ribbing on the square.”

Fans keep debating if this is just good storytelling or a sign of actual tension. The mix of script and real opinions makes it hard to tell where one ends and the other begins.
