Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill’s WrestleMania War of Words

Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill’s WrestleMania War of Words

For the seventh consecutive year, Rhea Ripley is slated for a marquee championship match at WrestleMania. Following her victory at the 2026 Women’s Elimination Chamber, Ripley took to social media to assert her dominance, claiming her consistent spot on the card makes her “that b**.”** However, the reigning WWE Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill, was quick to dismiss Ripley’s self-proclamation.

Responding on X, Cargill issued a blunt reality check to her new challenger. “No boo. You were the second option,” Cargill wrote. “@ me next time so I see it.”

Ripley, never one to back down from a verbal confrontation, countered by sharing old interview footage where Cargill had explicitly named “Mami” as a dream opponent. Cargill brushed off the clip, claiming she sometimes “just be talking.” She then questioned how Ripley obtained the footage, asking, “Which member of our social team found that video for you????” The champion followed up with a jab at Ripley’s booking, stating, “Cause we know they always have to find a way to keep you ‘on top’ going into mania.”

The tension between the two powerhouses follows a chaotic road to WrestleMania 42. Cargill has held the title since defeating Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November. At the Elimination Chamber in Chicago, Stratton nearly reclaimed her momentum but was ultimately eliminated last after Ripley planted her with a Riptide.

Ripley’s path to Cargill was paved by default after Liv Morgan, the 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble winner, bypassed Cargill to challenge Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer. This left the Elimination Chamber winner as the designated challenger for the blue brand’s top prize. Coming off a loss of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships just days prior on SmackDown, Ripley now enters Las Vegas with a singular focus on Cargill’s title. WWE has yet to confirm whether the clash will headline WrestleMania Saturday or Sunday.
