Randy Orton Defeats Sami Zayn to Advance to King of the Ring Finals – On the June 20 episode of WWE SmackDown, Randy Orton secured his place in the King of the Ring Tournament finals with a hard-fought win over Sami Zayn. The match was physical and competitive, showcasing two of WWE’s most seasoned veterans battling for a coveted spot at Night of Champions.
The bout began with technical grappling as Zayn applied wrist locks and arm bars, while Orton responded with side headlocks and reversals. After a brief exchange, Orton exited the ring to reset the pace. Sami teased a dive but pulled back with an Arabian Press into the ring, keeping Orton on his toes.
Momentum shifted when Orton used a thumb to the eye to gain control, followed by European uppercuts and a brutal pair of back drop drivers on the announce table. Zayn fought back, sending Orton into the ring steps, but Orton returned the favor by slamming Sami into the table and dragging the action back into the ring.
Inside the ropes, Orton slowed the pace, delivering the classic Garvin Stomp and multiple forearms. Sami rallied with a springboard clothesline and a flying double sledge. After blocking the Blue Thunder Bomb, Orton fired off signature clotheslines and a snap powerslam. He set up for the hanging DDT, but Zayn rolled to the outside, only for Orton to meet him with more punishment.
Back in the ring, Sami countered a charging Orton with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Zayn went to the top rope, leaped off, and dodged an RKO. He then charged for the Helluva Kick—but Orton snatched him mid-run and delivered a sudden, match-ending RKO for the pinfall victory.
With the win, Orton advances to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament at Night of Champions, where he will face the winner of next week’s WWE RAW semifinal between Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.
