Jim Ross Provides Health Update, Comments on Vince McMahon’s Future in Wrestling

Jim Ross Provides Health Update, Comments on Vince McMahon’s Future in Wrestling – Jim Ross has shared an encouraging update regarding his health following recent surgery for colon cancer. Speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross said he believes the most difficult phase is behind him and expressed confidence in his recovery. The update was his first on-camera appearance since undergoing the procedure, released via his YouTube channel.

“Just healing, man, just trying to heal and get better. And that’s kind of my goal right now,” Ross said. “I had a meeting with my surgeon earlier this week. He’s very happy, which makes me very happy… I believe they got all the cancer, which is great. So, you know, I’m very blessed in that regard. I was scared to death for a while, to be honest with you, because it’s just it’s that mysterious thing that you don’t know.”

Ross also confirmed that his goal is to return to AEW’s announce desk in time for All In: Texas, scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, marking AEW’s first stadium event in the United States. When asked if that timeline was overly optimistic, Ross responded, “No, I don’t think it’s too ambitious. I think it’s realistic.”

“I’m hopeful that that’s what happens. I’d love to be a part of that event and see the fans and see the talents,” he added. “I miss the talents a lot… My plan is to be there, so we’ll have to kind of wait and see… I want to get back in the game somehow, some way, and contribute to the success of AEW and your big event.”

Ross also took time during the episode to reflect on Vince McMahon’s status in the wrestling world. The discussion was prompted by host Conrad Thompson, who referenced reports suggesting McMahon may have interest in purchasing Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Ross commented on McMahon’s drive, saying, “He can be his own worst enemy. He’s very hard-headed, very stubborn. He’s also still very brilliant.”

Ross went on to say he does not believe McMahon is done with pro wrestling: “I just don’t think we’ve heard the last of him in the pro wrestling space. I don’t know where it’s headed. I don’t have any inside information, but I just think that he hasn’t sung his last song.”

He added, “Well, he made his mark in pro wrestling. So I would say that would be my first inclination that, yes, pro wrestling will be another place for him to… land.”

Ross concluded, “What happens? Who the hell knows? But he certainly hasn’t forgotten what he’s learned. He’s still brilliant. He’s still got it, quite frankly… It’s in his blood, Conrad, it’s what he built. He’s the godfather of that whole genre. So why wouldn’t one assume that he’s going to make another foray into that world.”
