The Undertaker Calls for Deeper Storytelling in WWE

The Undertaker Calls for Deeper Storytelling in WWE – In a recent interview with WrestleStar, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker shared his thoughts on the current state of WWE’s product, offering a veteran’s insight on what he believes is missing from the modern wrestling landscape. While praising the company’s financial success and the popularity of recent storylines, The Undertaker emphasized a desire for more emotionally resonant, long-term narratives.

“Man, it’s hard to put a finger on that, especially since the business itself is so incredibly strong right now. As far as gates and all the money that is generated, I feel like there needs to be maybe… some more deeper storylines,” he said. He specifically cited The Bloodline storyline as a standout example of rich storytelling. “Everything is, we had The Bloodline story, which was incredible. And I mean, no, I mean, it’s probably not even over yet… but that was such a… it was such a rich, rich story. And it worked so well. So I would like to see some more deep-rooted trajectory.”

Michelle McCool, who joined The Undertaker for the interview, added that the recent feud between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan succeeded for similar reasons, calling it “super compelling.”

The Undertaker expanded on what he believes would further enhance WWE’s storytelling—more personal rivalries and a clearer moral divide between characters. “Yeah, I think more personal, more personal stories and vendettas and underhandedness,” he said. “Yeah, I like my bad guys to be bad and my good guys to be good, right? You know, I need to feel my good guys in jeopardy and have them really overcome things. And I think if we can do a little bit more of that, I think we’ll be in a good spot.”

His comments reflect a broader sentiment shared by some long-time fans and wrestlers—that while in-ring performance and commercial metrics remain strong, there is room to deepen character development and narrative arcs.
