Eddie Kingston Offers Recovery Update, Cites Business Issues Delaying AEW Return – AEW star Eddie Kingston has shared an update on his recovery and addressed what’s currently preventing his return to the ring. “The Mad King” has not competed since suffering a broken leg on May 11, 2024, during a match against Gabe Kidd at a New Japan Pro-Wrestling event.
In a new training video released online, Kingston is seen working alongside AEW talent Cezar Bononi. The video shows Kingston actively training and moving around the ring, suggesting significant physical progress in his recovery. However, despite his improving condition, Kingston made it clear that his absence from AEW programming is not solely due to injury.
Speaking in the video, Kingston said, “Good. It feels fine… They’re trying to rush me back in the ring — training — which is fine. I’ve been running and stuff like that in the ring. It’s fine. It’s just that it’s business stuff, that I need to get done before I even think about doing anything in the ring for the company, you know what I mean? It’s a lot of business stuff.”
While no specific timeline has been confirmed, Kingston’s comments imply that contract or other professional matters are currently being prioritized before a formal in-ring return can be scheduled. AEW has not released an official statement on his status.
Kingston, a former NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion and respected veteran in both AEW and NJPW, remains one of the most prominent voices in the company. His return is expected to be a significant moment when business matters are resolved.
