Eddie Kingston Suffers ACL and Meniscus Tears, Requires Surgery

Eddie Kingston Suffers ACL and Meniscus Tears, Requires Surgery – Eddie Kingston won’t be returning to the ring anytime soon.

The AEW star revealed to PWInsider that he sustained a tibular fracture along with a torn ACL and meniscus during his match against Gabe Kidd at NJPW Resurgence earlier this month. He is scheduled to undergo surgery for these injuries.

“This is part of the game,” Kingston told PWInsider. “Injuries happen. I will be back.”

The injuries occurred during the match for the Strong Openweight title when Kidd suplexed Kingston onto a table outside the ring. Kingston’s legs hit the top of the barricade on landing, causing the damage. He lost the title to Kidd and was subsequently attacked by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks, who claimed responsibility for taking him out.

Kingston was originally set to team up with FTR and Bryan Danielson at AEW Double or Nothing in an Anarchy in the Arena match against The Elite. However, on last Wednesday’s Dynamite, he was replaced by the returning Darby Allin.

PWInsider reported that Kingston had hoped to return in time for All In: London, but his recovery from surgery is expected to take nine months, sidelining him for the rest of 2024.
