As revealed during the August 14 episode of WWE RAW, Chad Gable is scheduled to challenge Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on August 21.
Gable earned his title opportunity by defeating Ricochet, Tommaso Ciampa, and Matt Riddle on the August 7 episode. Gable’s ongoing feud with Gunther has been building, notably marked by his five-minute showdown with the champion on the July 31 episode of WWE RAW, which prompted Gunther to demand additional time and secure victory.
Gable’s momentum further surged when he bested Gunther’s Imperium ally Giovanni Vinci on the August 14 episode.
Additionally, an intriguing match is set as Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle will take on The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston).
The return of The New Day was marked on the August 7 episode, as they triumphed over the Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar). On the following episode, McIntyre, albeit reluctantly, joined forces with Riddle to defeat the Viking Raiders. Riddle expressed his interest in pursuing the tag team titles alongside McIntyre, leading to a challenge from The New Day, which Riddle readily accepted.
