SmackDown Results – July 16 – Houston TX – We are live from The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas as Michael Cole welcomes us to the show.

Vince McMahon’s theme hits as the Chairman makes his way to the stage to quickly welcome the fans back to live events! Vince asks where the hell have you been and he heads to the back.

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman then make their way to the ring as the crowd erupts. Reigns takes all the time while walking to the ring to enjoy the moment. The Usos joins Roman Reigns in the ring and then The Mysterios are out for our first match of the night. Edge follows.

The Usos and Roman Reigns vs. Edge, Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio

Long entrances, so we go to commercial before the match starts.

Jey hits Edge from behind and the referee starts the match.  Edge with a flapjack to Jey.  Dominik tags in and gives Jey an arm wringer and then Rey tags in and he hits a double sledge.  Rey with a wrist lock and Jey with a forearm and Jimmy tags in.  Rey with an arm drag into an arm bar.  Edge tags in and he kicks Jimmy in the arm.  Edge continues to work on the arm.  Rey tags back in and Edge holds Jimmy for a springboard seated senton splash for a near fall.  Dominik tags in and he hits a double jump moonsault for a near fall.  Dominik with an arm drag into an arm bar.

Jey tags in and he connects with an enzuigiri and Jimmy with an enzuigiri.  Jey with a splash into the corner and it is time for the table to tag in.  Roman pulls Dominik out of the ring to the floor.  Roman gets a near fall.  Dominik goes back to the floor and Roman watches from the apron.  Roman sends Dominik’s head into the announce table.  Roman sets for a power bomb onto the announce table and hits it.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Dominik kicks Jimmy and hits a tornado DDT.  Both men are down.  Jey tags in and so does Edge.  Edge goes after Jimmy on the apron and he swings at Roman.  Edge with a hot shot to Jey followed by a baseball slide to Jimmy and a clothesline to Roman.  Rey tags in and hits a springboard seated senton and then Rey with a satellite DDT and Jimmy breaks up the cover.  Dominik sends Jimmy to the floor and Dominik with a springboard cross body to Jimmy but Roman sends Dominik into the ring post.

Jey with a punch and Rey with a rana that sends Jey into the ropes but Roman blocks the 619 and he runs Rey into the apron and then back into the ring.  Edge spears Roman because Roman was distracted by an announcer standing up.  Rey with an O’Connor Roll for a near fall and Jimmy punches Rey and Jey with a rollup and some help for the three count.

Winners: The Usos and Roman Reigns

After the match, Jey attacks Rey and sends Rey into the ring post.  Jimmy and Jey work over Dominik.  Edge comes in and hits Jimmy and Jey with a steel chair.  Roman with a Superman punch to Edge. Roman picks up the chair and he breaks off the cross piece.  Edge with a spear and then he grabs the part of the chair. Edge puts Roman in the crossface and uses the piece of the chair in Roman’s mouth.  Roman is signalling to someone by patting his head (because we know that Roman does not tap out). Edge stands over Roman with the title belt in his hand and then he puts it back on top of Roman.

We go to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Edge and the Mysterios are talking in the back and Kayla ambushes Edge and does not care about the Mysterios. She asks Edge about being close to winning the Universal Championship.  Edge says he would hope that making Roman tap out just now makes it easier.  Edge says he has to dip into places he might not want to go.  He has to be a manipulative son of a bitch.

Seth Rollins is laughing off to the side while he looks like Billy Mitchell.  Seth laughs and says that Edge can’t beat Roman.  He says that Roman might be the most megalomaniacal but he has your number.  Seth says that he will be Edge’s biggest fan and wins the title.  Seth says he will go into Money in the Bank and he will claim the briefcase and he will finish what he should have done 7 years ago when I had my boot on your throat. I would love to cash in against the man who made the Money in the Bank match famous.

In the Arena:

Sami Zayn makes his way to the largest stage in Sports Entertainment.  

Sami says that everyone is talking about the Money in the Bank match but they are not talking about how he was excluded.  Fans are back.  There is a new entrance.  Shiny lights.  They are keeping you from focusing on the year long conspiracy against him.

Tonight, for the first time in forever, I have something in my corner that I haven’t had.  It is you.  You have seen it all. You have seen me been victimized and persecuted.  I need you to stand up and make your voices heard to know that this conspiracy will not stand.

Sami says he is not surprised.  The Yeehaws of Texas are not on his side.  That is fine.  I don’t need you.  I need justice.  If there was any justice in this world, I would be in that ladder match.  If there was any justice, this briefcase would be lowered and I would be handed that contract on a silver platter.  I will not let this show go on for one more minute…

Finn Balor’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Sami welcomes back Finn Balor.  Sami takes a swing at Finn and misses.  Finn with an elevated elbow drop and a running drop kick.  Balor goes up top and hits Coup de Grace.

— We take a look back at last week’s debut of Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox.

— Shotzi & Nox make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Shotzi & Nox vs. Natalya and Tamina in a Non Title Match

We are back and Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega are on commentary for this next match.

Shotzi and Tamina start things off and Tamina with a kick and slam.  Tamina sends Shotzi into the corner and Tamina knocks Tegan off the apron.  Tamina with a splash and Natalya tags in and kicks Shotzi.  Shotzi with an enzuigiri and a single leg take down.  Shotzi with a leg drop to the midsection and she gets a near fall.  Natalya with an Irish whip but Shotzi with an elbow.  Natalya punches Shotzi when Tamina distracts Shotzi.  Tamina tags in and they kick Shotzi in the corner.  Natalya tags back in and she punches Shotzi.  Shotzi with an elbow to Tamina and she punches Natalya.

Tegan tags in and she connects with European uppercuts and Tamina is knocked off the apron.  Tegan with a running European uppercut in the corner and an inverted cannonball followed by the Shiniest Wizard but Tamina breaks up the cover.  Tamina punches Shotzi.

Liv and Zelina get up and they start to fight while Natalya tries for a sharpshooter.  Liv with a clothesline off the ring steps to Zelina and Tegan with an inside cradle for the three count.

Winners: Shotzi & Nox

After the match, Tamina and Natalya attack Zelina and then Liv avoids Natalya and Tamina as Tamina goes into the steps and Natalya is sent into the announce table.  Liv with a double knee face buster to Natalya.

— Bianca Belair is walking in the back and Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode have something to say to her but she ignores them and keeps walking to the ring.

We go to commercial.

Carmella vs. Bianca Belair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship

Carmella pushes Bianca and Bianca pushes back.  Carmella slaps Bianca and Carmella goes to the floor to avoid Bianca.  Carmella with a wheelbarrow into an arm drag and then Bianca with an arm drag.  Bianca with a drop kick.  Bianca runs into an elbow and then runs into the turnbuckles.  Carmella with back elbows in the corner and then she connects with another elbow.  Carmella with a bronco buster for a near fall.  Carmella with an Irish whip and Bianca floats over and connects with a shoulders but Bianca is sent to the apron.  Bianca hangs Carmella over the turnbuckles from the other side of the apron but Carmella pulls Bianca into the ring psot.  Carmella sends Bianca into the ringside barrier.

They return to the ring and Carmella gets a near fall.  Carmella sends Bianca into the ringside barrier a few more times as we go to commercial.

We are back and Bianca with forearms and she sends Carmella into the turnbuckles and follows with a slam.  Carmella grabs the ankle but Bianca hits a handspring moonsault for a near fall.  Bianca goes up top and Carmella stops her.  Carmella goes for a handstandcanrana but Bianca pushes her away.  Biancai pulls Carmella to the turnbuckles.  Carmella with a Frankensteiner and she gets a near fall.  Carmella misses a clothesline and Bianca gets Carmella up for an Glam Slam but Carmella with a rollup for a near fall.

Carmella with a guillotine and Bianca falls to a knee.  Bianca gets a second wind and she gets back to her feet and Bianca with a suplex for a near fall.  Carmella goes to the apron and Carmella grabs Bianca’s hair but Bianca with a forearm.  Bianca misses hitting Carmella with the hair and then Carmella sends BIanca into the steps.  Carmella gets a near fall.  Carmella kicks Bianca in the head while holding the hair.  Bianca whips Carmella with her hair and hits the KOD for the three count.

Winner:  BIanca Belair

Backstage:

Chad Gable talks about how he teaches his students about the five senses.  They see people ducking in fear..  They hear the people talking about Otis.  He can taste the victory.  He asks Otis what do they smell in the locker room.  Otis says they smell fear.

Cesaro says he smells bull.  Just like last week’s list.  At least you didn’t have him on the list. Chad says they didn’t think about Cesaro.  He says that Cesaro has earned Otis’ full attention. Otis pushes Cesaro into the wall and we go to commercial.

— We are back with another vignette of Toni Storm. She will be on Smackdown next Friday.

Otis vs. Cesaro

They lokc up and Otis backs Cesaro into the corner and connects with shoulders.  Otis with a punch and a forearm to the side of the head.  Otis with a forearm to the chest.  Cesaro with European uppercuts and Gable distracts Cesaro and Otis with a World’s Strongest Slam and then he misses a splash into the corner and hits the ring post.  Cesaro drop kicks Otis to the floor and Gable with a German suplex to Cesaro and the referee calls for the bell.

WInner:  Cesaro (by disqualification)

After the match, Cesaro with a pop up European uppercut followed by a Giant Swing to Gable. Otis with a body tackle to Cesaro followed by a splash into the corner.  Otis with a Vader Bomb.

Backstage:

We go to Roman Reigns’ door and Paul Hayman is not happy with the way Kayla Braxton knocked.  Paul says Edge sinned against your tribal chief who will confess and atone for those sins or EDGE will have those sins beaten out of him by the defending Universal Champion Roman Reigns?  That Edge.  Don’t ask me about that Edge.  I did not give you a prediction…

Big E shows up and Paul is not in a good mood.  Big E says he will win the Money in the Bank contract.  Big E says he had something serious to talk to Paul about.  It appears that EDGE has a hold of Roman Reigns.  He says that Edge put your boy in the deal.

— Baron Corbin makes his way to the ring and he looks like he bet on the National League in the All Star Game.

We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Baron Corbin is in the ring, but before we hear from him, we see how he started his downward spiral.

Baron says it is no secret.  Look at him.  These last few weeks have been the most difficult time of his life.  I have lost everything.  I lost my crown, my car, my investments, and my savings.  The bank is threatening to foreclose on my house.  My two year old daughter is sick because she has to eat spaghetti out of a can instead of waygu beef.  We had to fire the maids.  We may have to move in with my wife’s parents.  Baron says there is hope.  You can help him out of these dark, financial times.  Baron says he has started a crowdfunded website.  It is called CorbinFundme.

Baron says he is not asking for much.  He is asking for enough to pay a few bills and get back on my feet.  I am asking for $100,000.  Go to Corbin Fund.com and help.  Baron says he does not want to hear that the people of Texas are as cheap as everyone else in the world.

Kevin Owens’ music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Baron says he wants to believe that Kevin is out here for the right reasons.  He is out here to help Baron.  He says Kevin has influence in the locker room.  If you guys help, then the fans will fall in line.  I am like you.  You have a heart and you sympathize with those in need.  Baron says you don’t spend money on your wardrobe so can you please find it in you to help… Owens with a stunner!

We go to commercial.

Kevin Owens vs. Big E vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

Back from the break and out comes Rick Boogs to begin performing the entrance of King Shinsuke Nakamura as Big E and Owens look on from the ring. Nakamura makes his entrance and dances around the ring to a quick pyro explosion and pop from the crowd. Out next comes Seth Rollins as we see the Money In the Bank briefcases hanging high above the ring. These four Superstars will compete in Sunday’s MITB Ladder Match with four RAW Superstars – Ricochet, Riddle, Drew McIntyre and John Morrison. We see how Rollins previously cashed in to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania 31.

The bell rings and Rollins says goodbye to everyone as they all stare him down. Rollins goes to leave the ring but Big E runs the ropes and delivers a big Spear to send Rollins to the floor, right in front of the ladders at the ramp. Owens runs and flies out with a flip dive onto Big E at ringside. Nakamura follows up with a flying knee to Owens from the apron. Nakamura rolls Owens back into the ring as we go right back to commercial.

We are back and Big E with a clothesline to Owens.  Big E punches Nakamura and sends him to the floor.  Big E with a forearm to Owens and Owens fires back.  Owens goes to the turnbuckles and Big E with punches.  Big E sets for a superplex but Nakamura wants to get invovled and they hit a double superplex on Owens.  Rollins goes for a frog splash and misses everyone.  Nakamura with kicks to Rollins followed by knees.  Nakamura puts Rollins on the turnbuckles and hits a running knee to the midsection.

Nakamura with a spinning heel kick followed by a reverse exploder.  Nakamura sets for KInshasa and Big E with a Big Ending on Nakamura but Rollins breaks up the cover.  Rollins sends Big E to the floor.  Rollins gets a ladder and brings it into the ring.  Rollins hits Nakamura in the head and knocks him to the floor.  Rollins adjusts the announce table and then he puts Nakamura on the announce table.  Rollins climbs the ladder and Owens pulls Rollins off the ladder and Owens sends Rollins into the ladder.  Owens goes up top and hits an elbow drop onto Nakamura through the table.

Big E get Rollins up for the Big Ending but Rollins escapes and kicks Big E in the back of the leg and hits Black Out on the ladder for the three count.

Winner:  Seth Rollins

After the match, Rollins stands tall in the middle of the ring as his music starts up. We go to replays. Rollins climbs the ladder while the other competitors are laid out and trying to recover. Rollins unhooks one of the Money In the Bank briefcases and celebrates up high. Cole thanks the WWE Universe and declares that WWE is back. The Money In the Bank go-home edition of SmackDown on FOX from Houston goes off the air with Rollins sitting on top of the ladder, celebrating with a MITB briefcase.
