NXT Results – January 27, 2021 – Tonight’s NXT episode opens up with a look back at last week’s show.

– We’re live on the USA Network as Vic Joseph welcomes us to the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. He’s joined at ringside by Wade Barrett and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. Fans chant as we go right to the ring.

Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals Match: MSK vs. Killian Dain and Drake Maverick

Killian Dain and Drake Maverick are already in the ring for the beginning to the quarterfinals of the 2021 Men’s NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Out next comes MSK – Wes Lee and Nash Carter.

Lee and Maverick start things off and they lock up.  Maverick with a waist lock take down and a side head lock.  Lee backs Maverick into the ropes and Lee with a clean break.  Lee with a waist lock and take down into a front face lock and Maverick with a reversal.  Lee with a wrist lock.  Lee with an Irish whip and Carter tags in and Lee with a kick and Carter with a bronco buster.  Carter gets a near fall.  Lee tags in and he hits a slingshot senton.  Carter tags in and he hits a slingshot senton and Carter gets a near fall.  Carter with a forearms but he misses a drop kick when Maverick holds on to the ropes.  Dain tags in and he biels Maverick into Carter and then he punches lee on the apron.  Dain with punches in the corner followed by a chop. 

Maverick tags in and Dain throws Maverick down to trip Carter and Dain with a back senton and Dain slams Maverick onto Carter to get a near fall.  Dain with a splash and Maverick and Dain with a kick combination for a near fall.  Dain gets Carter on his shoulders and Carter escapes and tags in Lee and they kick Dain many times and Carter with a double stomp to the back.  Lee with a forearm and Dain is not showing any impact.  Dain pushes Lee off the turnbuckles to the floor.

Dain goes to the floor but Maverick holds him back.  Dain still goes to the floor because he is much bigger than Maverick.  Dain chops Lee and they return to the ring.  Maverick tags in and he tries to get Dain to stop choking Lee.  Maverick gets a near fall.  Dain tags back in and Dain kicks Lee in the ribs.  Dain pushes Lee into the corner and connects with a splash.  Maverick tags in and gets a few near falls.  Maverick with a reverse chin lock.  Maverick with a head butt to the midsection and he tags Dain back in.  Dain kicks Lee in the corner.  Lee iwth a jaw breaker and Dain catches Lee when he tries to make the tag and Dain runs Lee into the turnbuckles.  Maverick with punches and a snap mare followed by a back senton for a near fall.

Dain tags in and he walks across Lee’s chest.  Dain works on the neck.  Lee with a punch and Dain with a forearm.  Dain with a slam and back senton.  Maverick tags in and he gets a near fall.  Maverick with a front face lock.  Lee tries to get to the corner to make the tag but Maverick kicks Carter’s hand away.  Lee with a back drop and Carter tags in and connects with forearms.  Carter with a knee to the midsection and then to the head.  Carter is sent into the corner but Maverick misses a splash.  Carter with a knee and kick to Maverick.  Carter kicks Dain off the apron.  Lee tags in and Carter is pushed onto Maverick with a moonsault and Dain breaks up the cover.

Dain is sent to the floor and Carter with a moonsault off the turnbuckles onto Dain.  Lee with a back elbow and Carter tags in and Lee with a leap frog blockbuster for the three count.

Winners:  MSK

After the match, MSK stands tall in the middle of the ring as the music hits. We go to replays. We get an updated look at the Men’s Dusty Classic brackets and MSK will now face the winners of Lucha House Party vs. Legado del Fantasma.

– We see footage from earlier today of Pete Dunne driving up and dropping off NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. They entered the venue as he pulled off.

– We get a video package on Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. The video also features Robert Stone hyping the new team of Aliyah and Jessi Kamea. Their tournament match is coming up. Back to commercial.

— We are back and Curt Stallion was interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell to find out a little about him.  Curt asks if she knows what it is like to drive 19 hours by yourself.  He talks about making towns from Texas to Chicago.  He sees shooting stars and he says that he knew he was the Lone Star Stallion.  It meant freedom and he needs the proverbial rocket to get strapped on him.  He needs the title for that rocket.

Aliyah and Jessi Kamea vs. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in a First Round Match in the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Aliyah and Gonzalez start things off and they lock up.  Aliyah tries to move Gonzalez and it does not work so Raquel swings Aliyah around in the lock up and sends her to the mat.  Kamea tags in and she goes for the leg but Raquel gets her up in a back braeker into a Gory Special.  Kamea goes for a sunset flip but Gonzalez stays on her feet.  Kamea avoids an elbow drop and Kamea with a drop kick.  Gonzalez with a clothesline and kai tags in.  Kai pie faces Kamea and Kai misses a clothesline.  Kamea with a slam and a springboard elbow drop for a near fall.  Aliyah tags back in and Aliyah with a forearm.  Aliyah with a neck breaker for a near fall.

Kai with an Irish whip and Aliyah with a kick to Kai.  Aliyah sets for a baseball slide but misses.  Kai with a kick to the head and they return to the ring and Kai gets a near fall.  Gonzalez tags in and she connects with a forearm.  Gonzalez with a forearm to the back and she kicks Aliyah in the midsection.  Gonzalez with a spinning power slam for a near fall.  Gonzalez sends Aliyah into the turnbucklse and Kai tags in and hits a face wash for a near fall.

Aliyah with forearms and Kai with a punch and she sends Aliyah into the turnbuckles.  Gonzalez tasg in and she connects with a shoulder in the corner.  Aliyah is sent into the turnbuckles.  Kai tags in and Gonzalez with a hip toss and then Gonzalez helps Kai with a double stomp for a near fall.  Kai with an arm bar.  Aliyah blocks a kick but Kai pulls Aliyah down by the hair.  Aliyah with a DDT and then Gonzalez and Kamea tag in.  Gonzalez with a clothesline and a choke slam for the three count.

Winners:  Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez

— The Way is in the back and Candice says they knew the Dusty Cup would be theirs and Indi says they will win it.  Johnny refuses to answer questions about KUSHIDA and he walks away.  Austin says not to mention KUSHIDA”s name since he lost twice to him. Johnny comes back.  He says it does not matter if KUSHIDA got two fluke wins, he will not get a title match.  You don’t say his name. They walk away and Dexter Lumis shows up. We go to commercial.

— We are back with another creepy promo from Scarlett. She says that foolishness tempts fate.  Such conviction bleeds to obliteration.  Stay on your journey for he will alter his.  Fall and pray.

— We take a look at Brie Larson working out with Tegan Nox.

Tyler Rust vs. Malcolm Bivens

Rust with a waist lock take down.  Bivens says he has hand picked his opponent and he will have no problems.  Rust with a waist lock.  sunset flip and arm drag but Rust blocks a second one.  Rust with a forearm.  Rust with a wrist lock and forearm.  Rust with a boot to the chest and then he stomps on the elbow.  Rust wtih a wrist lock and he works on the shoulder.  Rust spins his opponent while elevating him.  Rust with a forearm and he charges into the corner but falls victim to a rollup for a near fall.  Rust falls victim to a back slide for a naer fall.  Rust is put in a guillotine and then Rust backs his opponent into the corner.  Rust with an uppercut and boot to the head followed by a flipping snap mare.  Rust with Rings of Saturn and he taps out.

Winner:  Tyler Rust

After the match, Rust takes a selfie.

— The Grizzled Young Veterans say they did not enter this year’s tournament to be runners up again.  Ruff and KUSHIDA are great singles wrestlers, but they are a better tag team. Leon Ruff says they feel they can compete with any team in the tournament.  KUSHIDA says they will advance to the semifinals. We go to commercial.

— We are back and McKenzie is with Finn Balor and he is asked about his tag match and Kyle O’Reilly shows up and he asks Finn if he is ready.  Finn says he is always ready.  Kyle asks if he can trust Finn.  Finn asks Kyle what does he think.  Kyle says he doesn’t have to trust him as long as they are on the same page.  Finn says he will see Kyle out there.  Kyle says he will see Finn out there.

— Zack says we have another wannabe team think they can beat the GYV.  What makes you think your five minutes as a team can compete with their fifteen years.  The plate on the trophy will say one thing.  The Grizzled Young Veterans.

KUSHIDA and Leon Ruff vs. James Drake and Zack Gibson in a Second Round Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Match

KUSHIDA and Gibson start things off and they lock up and Gibson with a rollup.  KUSHIDA with a take down into a cross arm breaker but Gibson escapes.  Gibson with a side head lock and KUSHIDA with a head scissors.  KUSHIDA with chops and punches.  KUSHIDA with a kick and elbow.  Drake absorbs the impact on the Irish whip and Drake tags in and he hits an elbow.  Gibson with a clothesline and Drake with a spinning heel kick.  Drake gets a near fall.  KUSHIDA blocks a suplex and Ruff tags in and Ruff with a kick to the back of the leg.  Ruff with another kick to the leg.  Ruff is sent to the apron and hits a forearm.  Ruff avoids Drake in the corner and hits a drop kick.

Ruff with a wrist lock and KUSHIDA tags in and they work on the arms and hit a double drop kick to the temples for a near fall.  Ruff works on the shoulder and Ruff with a kick to the shoulder followed by a kick.  Ruff with a head scissors take down.  Ruff with a side head lock and front face lock.  Drake with an arm wringer to Ruff and he knocks KUSHIDA down on tha apron.  Gibson tags in and they go for a double suplex but KUSHIDA catches Ruff.  Ruff with a cutter off the turnbuckles for a near fall on Gibson.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ruff with a forearm and Drake tries to send Ruff into the corner but Ruff with a sunset flip for a near fall.  Drake with a clothesline.  Ruff is sent to the floor and Gibson tags in and Drake with a pescado while Gibson hits a back breaker.  Ruff escapes a slam and hits a neck breaker.  Drake tags in and he stops Ruff from making the tag.  Ruff tries to go through the legs but Drake holds on to Ruff.  Ruff with an elbow and KUSHIDA tags in and hits a chop off the turnbuckles.  KUSHIDA with a reverse atomic drop followed by a hip toss and cartwheel followed by a drop kick.  KUSHIDA with a drop kick to the arm.  KUSHIDA goes for a butterfly suplex but Drake blocks it.

Gibson tags in and goes for a suplex but KUSHIDA lands on his feet and hits a forearm.  KUSHIDA with an octopus but Gibson escapes and gives KUSHIDA a hip toss followed by a double thrust to the throat.  Drake tags in and Drake with a Doomsday Device for a near fall.  Drake punches KUSHIDA.Gison tasg in and they go for Ticket to Mayhem but KUSHIDA escapes and KUSHIDA with a handspring double back elbow.  Ruff tags in and hits a missile drop kick on Gibson and then he hits a suicide dive to Drake that sends him into the announce table.  Ruff with a senton onto Gibson on the floor.  Ruff with a rebound clothesline and he goes up top.

Drake pulls Gibson out of the way when Ruff goes for a swanton.  Drake tags in and kicks KUSHIDA off the apron and then they go for Ticket To Mayhem and hit it for the three count.

Winners:  James Drake and Zack Gibson

After the match, Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory attack Leon Ruff and KUSHIDA.  Ruff is sent to the floor and Gargano with a super kick to KUSHIDA.  Theory with a forearm to Ruff on the floor.  Gargano goes for the slingshot DDT and hits it on KUSHIDA. Dexter Lumis shows up behind Austin Theory and Theory tells Gargano that Lumis is here.  

— We go to the back and Curt Stallion is down and he says that Legado Del Fantasma cut him. Back to commercial.

— We are back and Vic Joseph says the Cruiserweight Championship match is off. Santos Escobar says it is really unfortunate that the match will not happen. William Regal storms in and wants to know what did they do to Curt Stallion.  Regal says the match will happen next week and if Curt is not able to compete, you three will suffer the consequences. A tarot card is on top of Santos’ bag and he says he is near.  Santos laughs it off and they leave.

— Toni Storm makes her way to the ring.   She tells Io Shirai when she wants something, she does not wait her turn.  She says when she wanted to become the NXT UK Women’s Champion, I took it from Rhea Ripley.  When I wanted the Mae Young Classic, I took it from you.  You took my dream of winning the first Women’s Dusty Classic.  I want to hurt you and I want to take the NXT Women’s Championship from you.

Io Shirai’s music plays and she comes to the ring. Io tells Toni I will fight you anywhere.  I already beat Rhea.  I don’t like you.

Toni with a double leg take down and punches.  They exchange punches and Io with a drop kick to send Toni to the floor. Mercedes Martinez attacks Io from behind and hits a choke slam. Martinez picks up the title belt.  Shirai with a drop kick to Storm and Martinez and then she hits a running double knee strike in the corner.  Io goes up top and Toni drops Io on the turnbuckles.  Storm pulls Martinez out of the ring to safety but she clotheslines Martinez.  Storm with running hip strikes in the corner.  Storm holds the title belt.

— We go to Isaiah Scott and McKenzie asks him about what he said to Bronson Reed.  Isaiah does not want to have to deal with this question before his match.  He says he is figuring out the landscape.  Everyone wants to point their finger at Swerve.  He asks McKenzie to point at him and then he asks her how many fingers are pointing back at her. We go to commercial.

— We are back with a video for Imperium.  Alexander Wolfe says Imperium stood together on American soil and showed they were the force.  Things changed.  They were isolated.  WALTER has ruled as the NXT UK champion and they have held the NXT Tag titles.  That is not enough.  Their strength is in their unity.  Their unity will lead to domination.  Wofle says his arrival is only the beginning.

— Adam Cole and Roderick Strong are asked about their match against Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.  Cole says they know about Ciampa.  If Thatcher is like he was in Fight Pit, they will have a fight on their hands.  Strong says Ciampa and Thatcher are tough guys, but Strong says as a team they are tougher and have more experience.  There is no way those two dorks will stop them from becoming two time Dusty Cup Champions.

Bronson Reed vs.  Isaiah Scott

Reed backs Scott into the corner and Reed with a clean break.  Scott with a kick out of the corner and he punches Reed but Reed punches back and sends Scott over the top rope but Scott lands on his feet.  Reed picks Scott up to the apron and Scott with a kick to send Reed to the floor.  Scott with a kick to the head from the apron and he goes for a second one but Reed blocks it and sends Scott to the floor.  Reed with a splash into the corner and he clotheslines Scott over the top rope.  Reed with a suicide dive.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Scott with an arm bar.  We take a look at footage from the commercial break when Reed was sent into the ring post.  Scott returns to the arm bar and adds elbows to the head.  Scott with a reverse chin lock and rake of the eyes.  Scott with punches to Reed and then Scott goes for a rolling move but Reed pushes Scott away.  Reed with shoulder tackles and a running body block and back senton.  Reed with a suplex set up into a Death Valley Driver for a near fall.  Scott escapes a choke slam when Reed cannot get Scott up.

Reed with a boot when Scott charges into the corner.  Scott kicks Reed on the turnbuckles.  Scott with divorce court off the turnbuckles followed by a kick and 450 splash for a near fall.  Scott slaps Reed a few times and Reed with a head butt and clothesline.  Reed goes up top for a frog splash and the three count.

Winner:  Bronson Reed

— Tommaso Ciampa says he has been doing this for 16 years.  There are the fights you win and the fights you lose.  Then there are the fights you remember.  The fights that command respect.  Timothy Thatcher sits next to Ciampa.  Thatcher says the Fight Pit changes a man physically and mentally and then they look forward.  Respect grows and that is why I accepted his offer.  Ciampa says the Dusty Cup presents opportunities.  Next week, Undisputed Era, it will be a war.

— The other two quarterfinals matches will take place next week on NXT.

Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor vs. Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan in a Non Title Match

Lorcan and Balor start things off and Balor with a side head lock.  Balor with a shoulder tackle and he gets a near fall.  Balor with an arm drag into an arm bar.  Kyle tags in and Lorcan gets away from Balor.  Burch tags in.They lock up and Kyle with a side head lock.  Kyle with a shoudler tackle and he gets a near fall.  Kyle with an arm drag into an arm bar.  Burch with a side head lock and Lorcan tags in.  Burch and Lorcan with chops and Lorcan with European uppercuts.  Burch tags in and they work on the arm and Burch with a Euroepan uppercut.  Burch with a side head lock take down.    Burch with punches to the jaw and Kyle gets a near fall with a rollup.

Burch goes for a slam but Kyle escapes and tags in Balor.  Balor with a kick to the arm and he wrings the arm before tagging Kyle in.  Kyle with an elbow and chop as he continues to work on the arm.  Balor tags in and he connects with a forearm off the turnbuckles.  Kyle tags in and goes to the turnbuckles with a boot.  Lorcan is stopped by Kyle and Finn.  Finn and Kyle with a double back elbow to Burch and he goes to the floor.  

Burch with a kick and side head lock.  Lorcan tags in and he connects with a running European uppercut and then he punches Kyle.  Burch tags in and he works on the jaw.  Burch with a snap mare and kick to the head.  Burch gets a naer fall.  Lorcan tags in and he snap mares Kyle and applies a double wrist lock.  Kyle with forearms but Lorcan with a European uppercut.  Kyle with a snap mare and Balor tags in and hie hits a double stomp on Lorcan.  Balor with kicks to Lorcan and the referee warns Balor.  Balor kicks Burch when he tries to interfere.  Lorcan backs Balor into the corner and Burch tags in and punches balor.  Balor with a forearm and Lorcan tags in.

Lorcan with a wrist lock and divorce court.  Lorcan with punches.  Burch with an arm wringer and punch to Balor followed by an arm bar.  Balor with forearms and Burch with an arm wringer.  Burch with a clothesline into the corner and he gets a near fall.  Lorcan tags in and Balor tries to fight out of the corner.  Burch and Lorcan with a double atomic drop followed by a side Russian leg sweep from Lorcan for a near fall.  Lorcan with a double wrist lock.  Lorcan with a hammer lock take down.  Lorcan continues to work on the arm.  Lorcan with a European uppercut.  Lorcan with another European uppercut but Balor with a Pele Kick and both men are down.

Balor wit a foreamr and he tries to make the tag but Lorcan keeps him away.  Lorcan with an Irsih whip and Balor kicks Lorcan and knocks Burch off the apron.  Balor with slingblade to Lorcan.  Burch and Kyle tag in and Kyle with boots and kicks.  Kyle wihth a knee to Lorcan and kicks to Burch followed by a leg sweep.  Kyle with a running forearm into the corner and he goes for a dragon screw but Burch with a punch.  Kyle with a leg sweep and Burch kicks Kyle in the face.  Kyle with a heel hook and Burch taps out.

Winners;  Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor

After the match, Kyle points at the other side of the ring and Lorcan pulls Kyle out of the ring.  Pete Dunne is in the ring and then Dunne, Burch, and Lorcan go after Balor and then they stop Kyle from helping out.  Dunne, Burch, and Lorcan kick Balor.  Dunne kicks Balor in the head and then he pulls at the fingers while Roderick Strong and Adam Cole make their way to the ring. Balor stands beside the Undisputed Era but Balor backs off to allow it to be a three on three LONG stare down.
