While Kofi and Austin Creed have received a warm reception behind the scenes following their arrival in All Elite Wrestling, one veteran in the locker room appears to be holding onto past history.
Following the promotional debut of The New Level at All In: London at Wembley Stadium—where the pair joined forces with Swerve Strickland to capture the AEW World Trios Championships—Trent Beretta took to social media to dig up a decade-old post regarding his new co-worker.
“Then Now Forever, Brother” — Beretta Revisits 2013 Comment
The history between the two traces back to Beretta’s departure from WWE in early 2013. Following his release from the company at the time, Beretta made a direct statement on social media regarding Kofi:
“Now that I’m fired I can finally say it: Kofi Kingston is an asshle,”* Beretta wrote in 2013.
With both men now sharing the same locker room once again under the AEW umbrella, The Don Callis Family member reshared his original post alongside a brief follow-up referencing WWE’s signature slogan:
“‘Then Now Forever,’ brother,” Beretta posted.
Shared Locker Room & Ongoing AEW Landscape
The post marks the first public callback to the exchange in years, as both wrestlers had spent more than a decade competing in separate promotions.
While it remains unclear whether Beretta’s post is genuine locker room animosity or lighthearted banter between longtime peers, both men are now officially aligned under the same roster for the foreseeable future as The New Level continues their reign as AEW World Trios Champions.
