Tony Khan Leaves Skydance Meetings High-Spirited Over AEW’s Future Post-WBD Merger

AEW President Tony Khan reportedly emerged from high-level meetings in Los Angeles with Skydance executives feeling as optimistic about his promotion’s future as he has been in quite some time.

Following the recent completion of the landmark merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery—forming the unified entity led by Chairman and CEO David Ellison—Khan traveled West to conduct face-to-face strategy sessions regarding AEW’s broadcast future and corporate positioning.

High-Level Discussions In Los Angeles Yield Positive Vibes

Reporting on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer highlighted that Khan was exceptionally pleased with how the recent Los Angeles sit-downs unfolded with key leadership.

  • “He came away happier than he’s been in a long time,” Meltzer noted when detailing Khan’s reaction to the talks.

While specific agenda items and long-term TV arrangements remain guarded, Khan’s positive outlook aligns with his prior public praise of Ellison, whom he previously stated strongly supports AEW’s continued growth under the updated media umbrella.

Skydance Already Making Moves In Wrestling

Meltzer also noted that Skydance leadership hasn’t wasted any time establishing its footprint, having already executed two wrestling-related maneuvers since officially assuming operational control over the portfolio.

As AEW continues its core programming on existing networks, Khan’s high spirits signal that the new corporate hierarchy views professional wrestling as a viable asset moving forward.
