Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery Merger’s New Corporate Name Officially Revealed

The long-anticipated merger between media giants Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery has reached a major milestone ahead of its official closing, with executive leadership confirming the new corporate identity that will oversee both historic entertainment brands.

On October 2, 2026, David Ellison officially announced that the combined media conglomerate will operate under the Skydance parent company name when the transaction expectedly closes on October 6, 2026.

Preserving Historic Studio Legacies Under Skydance

Despite operating under the Skydance corporate umbrella, both Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will maintain their individual branding, studio identities, and operational structures. Addressing the decision, Ellison emphasized that the strategic choice was rooted in preserving the historical legacies of both Hollywood institutions:

  • Protecting Iconic Brands: “We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic,” Ellison stated. “Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one.”
  • A Unified Corporate Banner: “Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight.”
  • Combined Media Library: To mark the announcement, Skydance published a promotional launch video highlighting landmark films from both archives, featuring clips from Top Gun: Maverick, The Godfather, Chinatown, The Dark Knight, Casablanca, Sinners, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Vision For The Future & Industry Impact

Detailing the long-term roadmap for Skydance on social media, Ellison framed the consolidation as an infrastructure upgrade designed to empower storytelling rather than overwrite studio histories:

“What once was the peak, is now just the beginning. Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren’t rewriting history — we’re equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.”

Looking ahead to post-merger operations, Ellison added: “We have big goals for Skydance, and we intend to pursue them with passion, imagination and a willingness to take smart risks. At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special — giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance. I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re going to build together.”

Pending final administrative closure next week, Skydance will instantly become one of the largest global media and entertainment conglomerates in world history.
