The 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic officially kicked off on the September 22 episode of WWE NXT, delivering high-stakes tournament action as two teams punched their tickets to the second round.
In the opening bout of the evening, the newly minted duo of Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno picked up a hard-fought victory over Los Americanos (Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano). The win pushes Dar and Moreno further down the left side of the bracket, keeping their championship dreams alive in the single-elimination tournament.
Later in the broadcast, former tournament victors The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) launched their campaign for a second Dusty Cup trophy. The powerhouse brothers overpowered the young Evolve duo of Harley Riggins & Jax Presley, securing the pinfall to advance to the next round.
With the initial slate of opening-round matches in the books, tournament action will resume on the September 29 episode of WWE NXT on The CW.

The first night of the Dusty Classic went pretty much as expected, but that doesn’t make the victories any less significant.
