Rich Swann Returns to TNA Under Pay-Per-Appearance Deal

Rich Swann Returns to TNA Under Pay-Per-Appearance Deal – TNA Wrestling continues to navigate a busy period of roster changes and contract negotiations as several top stars approach the end of their current deals. Among those whose contracts are reportedly expiring soon are TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys, as well as Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel of The Rascalz. Meanwhile, the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions The IInspiration are said to be working without formal contracts at this time.

Amidst all the uncertainty, one familiar name has officially returned to TNA. According to Fightful Select, Rich Swann is back with the promotion, though not under a written deal. Swann, who departed earlier this year when his contract expired, maintained a positive relationship with company officials and was invited back over the summer on a pay-per-appearance basis. Since his return, he has aligned himself with AJ Francis and KC Navarro as part of the faction First Class, and recently competed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory.

Swann is widely remembered for his tenure in WWE between 2016 and 2018, where he competed in the Cruiserweight Classic and later captured the WWE Cruiserweight Championship by defeating The Brian Kendrick on the debut episode of 205 Live. His WWE run ended in early 2018 following legal issues stemming from a December 2017 arrest involving his wife, Su Yung. The charges were eventually dropped, and the two have remained together, welcoming their first child in 2022.

After leaving WWE, Swann signed with TNA in 2018, where he went on to capture the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Bound for Glory 2020, defeating Eric Young. His reign concluded at Hard to Kill 2021, when he lost the title to AEW’s Kenny Omega in a high-profile crossover match.

With his renewed involvement in TNA and continued fan support, Swann’s return adds more star power to the promotion’s evolving landscape — even without a formal contract in place.
