Rich Swann is officially a free agent, ending his most recent run with TNA Wrestling after nearly two years under contract.
While Swann’s contractual status had been the subject of speculation in recent months, it has now been confirmed that his deal with the company has expired. Swann had signed a two-year contract extension with TNA in late 2022, and that deal ran through the end of 2024. According to sources, the agreement included a one-year extension option, which was ultimately not exercised.
Despite no longer being under contract, Swann was backstage for both nights of TNA television tapings in Orlando, Florida. His presence sparked some discussion regarding a potential return or negotiations, but no further details have emerged as of this writing.
Swann has not appeared on TNA programming since summer 2024. His absence followed a public intoxication arrest, after which he voluntarily entered a substance abuse rehabilitation program. Since then, he has slowly reestablished himself on the independent scene, making his return to the ring in October 2024 with Pro Wrestling Revolver. He has also become a regular for GCW and other independent promotions across the country.
Swann’s free agent status opens the door for appearances across any promotion, should opportunities arise. Given his championship pedigree and name value, it’s expected that interest in the former TNA World Champion will be high within the wrestling industry.
