Kenny Omega Wins AEW World Title at Dynamite Beach Break, Sets Up Will Ospreay Match

Kenny Omega is once again AEW World Champion after defeating MJF in the main event of the July 8 Beach Break edition of Dynamite. The high-stakes bout came with a major stipulation, as Omega would have been barred from future world title opportunities had he lost.

The match started at a fast pace, with both men trading strikes immediately before MJF targeted Omega’s throat to gain control. Omega responded with a snap German suplex and even teased an early One-Winged Angel, but MJF escaped by grabbing the ropes, sending both competitors to the outside.

The action quickly spilled into the crowd, where Omega launched MJF into a pile of chairs. Back in the ring, MJF created an opening by pulling referee Bryce Remsburg into the path of a V-Trigger, allowing him to regain momentum with a double-leg takedown and a bite to Omega.

Omega regained control as the match moved up the ramp, driving MJF head-first into a lifeguard chair before climbing the structure and delivering a massive moonsault to a strong reaction. Back inside, Omega continued the offense with a dropkick and a Terminator Dive, followed by a Kotaro Crusher and leg-trap neckbreaker.

The pace intensified as both men exchanged strikes and counters. MJF delivered a powerbomb onto his knee and followed with a Package Piledriver for a near fall. Moments later, Omega answered with a V-Trigger that sent MJF crashing through the announce table with a head-first impact.

After the break, the physical toll became evident. MJF countered a One-Winged Angel attempt and drove Omega onto a chair with a Tombstone, damaging his own knee in the process. Both men struggled to capitalize, collapsing during key moments as the match reached its closing stretch.

MJF came close to victory after countering an Avalanche One-Winged Angel into an Avalanche Poison Rana and hitting the Heat Seeker for a near fall. He then attempted to use the AEW World Title, but the referee intervened. MJF followed by pulling out the Dynamite Diamond Ring, only for Will Ospreay to run in and take it away.

With the referee distracted, Omega briefly considered using the championship but chose not to. MJF capitalized with a low blow and a belt shot, but Omega kicked out at one, shifting the momentum completely.

Omega responded with a series of strikes and three consecutive V-Triggers before finally delivering the One-Winged Angel to secure the victory and the AEW World Championship.

Following the match, an All In graphic confirmed that Omega will defend the title against Will Ospreay at Wembley Stadium. The show closed with Omega celebrating as pyro went off, marking a major moment in AEW’s main event scene.
