Bully Ray has shared concerns about how WWE is currently handling Izzi Dame’s run in NXT, following her latest defeat on television. The veteran spoke openly about Dame’s direction during a recent episode of Busted Open After Dark, raising questions about her lack of momentum despite showing clear potential.
This week’s NXT featured a number one contender’s match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, where Layla Diggs picked up the victory over Thea Hail, Lizzy Rain, and Izzi Dame. The result means Dame missed out on a key opportunity, which only added to the discussion about her current position on the roster.
Bully Ray admitted he is unsure why Dame is not being pushed more prominently at this stage. “I’m a little concerned with Izzi Dame. I don’t know why Izzi Dame is not being featured more,” Bully said. “She was being featured for a while, but they’ve kind of had her in the Speed division. She didn’t win tonight. I wonder what’s going on with Izzi.”
While questioning her booking, Bully also made it clear that he sees strong upside in Dame. He pointed to her overall presentation and presence as key strengths that should make her stand out in the division. “Uncle Bully has been keeping an eye on Izzi, and he likes what he sees. It factor, airport test, work, statuesque, whole nine,” he said.
Bully added that he expected Dame to already be further along in her push. At the same time, he acknowledged that WWE could be taking a longer-term approach with her development. “I thought Izzi would have been someone they hit the gas on a little bit more. Maybe they’re cooling her off because they plan on doing it,” Bully said. “But I think the girl has earned more of the meat of the push.”
Dame’s recent loss and limited exposure have sparked discussion among fans, especially as NXT continues to showcase new contenders in the women’s division. With several rising names stepping into the spotlight, her position on the card remains one to watch in the coming weeks.
