Interim WWE Women’s Champion To Be Crowned At SummerSlam

WWE will crown an interim WWE Women’s Champion at SummerSlam following an injury to current titleholder Rhea Ripley.

The announcement was made by RAW General Manager Adam Pearce shortly before tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Pearce confirmed that Ripley is recovering from a torn meniscus and, while she is making progress, she will not be medically cleared in time for SummerSlam.

Interim WWE Women’s Champion Match Set For SummerSlam

To determine a new interim champion, WWE will hold a series of qualifying matches featuring five competitors. The winners will advance to a ladder match at SummerSlam, where the interim WWE Women’s Champion will be decided.

Pearce also confirmed that once Ripley returns to action, she will face the interim champion in a unification match to determine the undisputed titleholder.

Ripley has not appeared on WWE television in over a month. Her last match took place during WWE’s European tour on June 4, where she teamed with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton in a victory over Fatal Influence.

In a recent interview, Ripley addressed her injury and described the situation as uncertain, noting that her recovery timeline was still evolving.

With SummerSlam approaching, the interim title situation adds another major development to the card, as WWE moves forward while awaiting Ripley’s return.
