Spoiler News & Notes for 2/28 WWE SmackDown – Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown promises a stacked lineup, with significant changes to the originally advertised card. In a breaking news video, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis confirmed that the previously announced WWE United States Championship match between LA Knight and Shinsuke Nakamura is no longer happening. Instead, a tournament will determine the next No. 1 contender for the U.S. Title.
The tournament will feature three qualifying matches, with the winners advancing to a triple-threat final later in the night:
- LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar (w/ Los Garza)
- Carmelo Hayes vs. Braun Strowman
- Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade
The winner of the triple-threat match will earn a future shot at the WWE United States Championship.
