The Undertaker Replaced Steve Austin at WWE WrestleMania 40 – The anticipation was high among fans for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s potential interference in the main event of WWE WrestleMania, especially considering The Rock’s involvement. However, instead of Austin, it was The Undertaker who made a surprise appearance. A recent report sheds light on the original plans for Austin’s involvement.
Leading up to WWE WrestleMania, Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter hinted at the possibility of WWE incorporating John Cena, The Undertaker, and Steve Austin into the event in some capacity, although nothing was confirmed.
While Cena and The Undertaker did indeed make appearances during the show, intervening in the main event clash between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, Austin’s absence was notable. According to Meltzer’s latest report, Austin was initially slated to fill the spot taken by The Undertaker. However, negotiations regarding financial terms between Austin and WWE reportedly fell through, leading to The Undertaker stepping in instead.
