Jon Moxley Comments On Winning IWGP World Heavyweight Title – At NJPW Windy City Riot, AEW star Jon Moxley beat Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. In doing so, he became a Global Grand Slam Champion, as he came the first wrestler to hold a world title in AEW, WWE, and NJPW.
In his post-match comments, Jon Moxley shared his thoughts following his victory.
That’s what I’m f*cking talking about. It’s [that] irony smell in your nostrils, tastes like f*cking victory. I am the IWGP World Champion. Thank you to my teammates, to my friends, to my family, even Eddie Kingston, everybody who’s been with me on this 20-year fumble-f*ck of an up and down journey. I stand at the top of a mountain tonight that nobody’s ever stood atop before. You know what? I don’t really give a f*ck about belts.
“I don’t really care what three letters or four letters or five letters are on the name of the marquee or the title on the t-shirt, the pay-per-view or the letters on the belt. I don’t care. I go where I want. I do whatever the f*ck I want, whenever the f*ck I want, and nobody can stop me. Next time I come to Japan, I’m bringing this [title] with me. So I’ll see you soon.”
Jon Moxley then sent a message to NJPW as he previewed his upcoming matches against Shota Umino and Ren Narita.
“Before then, I got a message to send to everybody in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, all around the world,” Jon Moxley said. “When you see what I do to my next opponent, when you see what I do to Shooter, how far I am willing to go, what lengths I am willing to go to, how much I just absolutely show no mercy whatever, even to people that I love, you will see things in a whole different light.”
Moxley is set to appear on the April 17 episode of AEW Dynamite.
