William Regal Names Ava as New General Manager of NXT – William Regal made a notable return to WWE TV on the January 23 episode of NXT. During the episode, Regal announced Ava as the new general manager of NXT after the two walked out of the office of Shawn Michaels. Regal also offered guidance to Ava on managing the brand.
Regal had previously served as the general manager of NXT from July 2014 until his release from WWE in January 2022. Following his departure, he joined AEW in 2022 but later requested his contract not be renewed so he could return to WWE to be with his son Charlie Dempsey. WWE granted Regal’s request, and he rejoined the company but could not appear on television in 2023. During that time, Regal worked behind the scenes as the Vice President of Global Talent Development.
This return to WWE TV marks William Regal’s first on-screen appearance since 2021 when he served as the General Manager for NXT before his initial departure from the company in 2022.
