Dragon Lee’s Visa Hold-Up Affects NXT New Year’s Evil Appearance – After giving talent and crew time off for the holidays, WWE is resuming its regular programming schedule.
WWE recently aired special episodes, like Raw’s Day 1 edition headlined by Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre, featuring a surprise appearance by The Rock. SmackDown’s upcoming episode is themed as the New Year’s Revolution show.
Tonight’s NXT presents the highly anticipated New Year’s Evil special. Among the announced matches are NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov versus Trick Williams, NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria taking on Blair Davenport, and the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament finals.
Originally, Dragon Lee was slated to compete in a six-man tag team match, partnering with Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro against Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, and Damon Kemp. However, Lee announced that he had to withdraw from the bout due to a visa-related issue, leaving an open spot in the match. It’s unclear at this point who will fill in for Lee on the broadcast.
According to reports from Pwinsider, Lee’s visa matter isn’t expected to cause prolonged issues, and his new work visa for WWE in the United States has already been approved. The delay in its arrival, attributed to the holiday season, prevented Lee from returning in time for tonight’s NXT. Sources suggest that Lee could be back in the States soon and might even make an appearance as early as Friday’s SmackDown, pending the visa’s arrival.
