WWE Had Plans for “McRiddle” Merchandise – WrestleVotes reports that prior to Matt Riddle’s departure from WWE, the company had significant plans for him and Drew McIntyre as a tag team on the red brand (RAW). These plans were substantial enough that various merchandise items had been designed for the team, which was given the rather interesting name “McRiddle.” It’s important to note that this information is not a joke and was part of WWE’s creative direction at the time.
“Prior to his departure from the company, I’m told there were significant plans for a Matt Riddle / Drew McIntyre tag team. So much so, various merchandise items were designed with the team name……. “McRiddle.” This is not a joke.”
However, Matt Riddle was among the wrestlers who were released by WWE as part of a series of mass talent releases that affected both the main roster and NXT. It’s worth mentioning that before his release, Riddle was involved in an incident at JFK Airport on September 9, where he accused a Port Authority police officer of sexual assault. An ongoing investigation is being conducted regarding this matter, and footage of the incident was made public, showing Riddle appearing to be intoxicated at the airport while waiting for his flight.
Despite his release, Matt Riddle reportedly garnered interest from various wrestling promotions and even MMA companies for potential signings. However, he will need to wait out the standard 90-day non-compete clause before he can officially sign with any new organization or promotion.
