Among his numerous rivals, Dusty Rhodes stood out, with their intense clashes and battles for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship during the 70s and 80s, famously highlighted by Funk donning a “Dusty Sucks Eggs” shirt.
During the August 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes offered a heartfelt tribute to Funk. Cody began his address by recounting a memory from when he was 11, hearing Terry Funk refer to his father as an “egg sucking dog” at the airport.
Cody further remarked that while WWE superstars have been associated with various names, only a select few have been truly recognized as “Cowboys,” a title he attributed to Funk and Bray Wyatt in the most commendable manner. Cody acknowledged Funk’s 50-year-long dedication to wrestling, noting how he significantly impacted entire companies, specifically referencing Funk’s pivotal role in ECW.
