Backstage News On Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler SummerSlam Match

Backstage News On Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler SummerSlam Match – As noted, Shayna Baszler defeated Ronda Rousey in MMA Rules Match at last night’s WWE SummerSlam in Detroit.

They tried to recreate an MMA fight with strikes and clinching up against the ropes as well as submission holds. At one point, Shayna sold an arm injury and the medics checked on her. Rousey pushed away the medics before they went back to action. There were also spots where they did ten counts.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there were some issues between WWE and the two former UFC stars about how the match should’ve been laid out.

“Ronda and Shayna wasn’t the best match. There were issues between WWE creative and them as far as how it was gonna go, and you don’t have knockdowns in an MMA fight and do ten counts, or whatever, but it’s like, you have some people stuck in one mentality of combat and others in another, and it kind of, I think that it kind of hurt that.”

The Rousey-Baszler feud is seen as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation from Ronda Rousey to Shayna Baszler, allowing Baszler to gain significant TV exposure. The two share a close bond, having worked closely together during their training days. Baszler played a vital role in aiding Rousey’s smooth transition from MMA to the world of professional wrestling.

Despite speculation about Rousey’s potential return to UFC following her WWE departure, current reports indicate no immediate plans for her to make a comeback to the Octagon. Ariel Helwani, a renowned reporter covering both WWE and MMA, has confirmed that Rousey is not currently considering a return to UFC.
