Backstage News On Ricky Starks - Ricky Steamboat Beatdown On AEW Collision

Backstage News On Ricky Starks – Ricky Steamboat Beatdown On AEW Collision – During the August 5 episode of AEW Collision, an intriguing matchup unfolded as Ricky Starks took on CM Punk in a contest for the “real” AEW World Championship. The bout was made even more significant by the presence of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, who acted as a special outside official.

Steamboat played a pivotal role by pushing Starks’ feet off the ropes during the final moments. This gesture paved the way for Punk to secure a victorious pinfall, with Steamboat himself counting the pin.

However, the post-match events took an unexpected turn. Following the conclusion of the match, Ricky Starks lost his cool and launched a vicious attack on Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Starks’ anger escalated to the point where he even used Steamboat’s own belt to whip the legendary wrestler, showcasing an intense and aggressive side that left spectators shocked and intrigued about the potential ramifications of this altercation.

Cameron “Ceehawk” Hawkins from The Ringer recently engaged in a conversation with Nick Hausman on Haus of Wrestling, where he shared some insights into the match itself and the subsequent developments that occurred after the match had concluded.

“A bit of a Collision note. So, in the original finish, like after the match, Ricky Steamboat was gonna chop Starks, and that was going to be it. Ricky Steamboat pulls Rick and Punk into a room and tells them the finish that we saw. It brought Rick to tears because he appreciated it so much. So, salute to Ricky Steamboat for making a good thing, a great thing,” Hawkins said.

Hawkins clarified that he spoke to Starks after the match, learning about Steamboat’s request. He recalled his conversation with Starks, where Starks explained how Steamboat came up with the idea for the angle.

“Well, I mean, you know, that’s my man (Ricky Starks). So we talked about how things go and, you know, especially after the match, I was like, ‘You killed it.’ He was like, ‘Cam, this is what happened,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s so cool.’ Yeah, man, salute to Steamboat. That’s dope. Because think about how cool and how physical and how visceral that was; Ricky Steamboat’s idea, and his whole thing was, ‘Look, man, this is supposed to make you look good. Not me,'” Hawkins said.
