8/5 AEW Collision Results

The show opens up with FTR defending the AEW tag team titles! 

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (c) Vs. Big Bill & Brian Cage

The match starts off with Wheeler and Cage in the ring. Wheeler heads to the outside of the ring and hugs his mom. He returns and he and Cage lock up. Cage hits a shoulder tackle. Harwood tags in and keeps trying to take Cage down with shoulder tackles. Bill tags in and Wheeler tags in too.

Elbow drop to Wheeler and gets a two-count. Big boot to Bill, and Wheeler tags in Harwood and hits the double chops. Cage gets in the ring and gets thrown out quickly. Bill hits a chokeslam to Wheeler on top of Harwood. He picks him up and throws him out of the ring and onto Harwood again. Commercial break. Back from the break and Bill and Wheeler are outside of the ring and Bill is attacking Wheeler next to his mom. He mocks Wheeler’s mom and she slaps him. 

After a brief stint in the ring, Cage tags in Bill. Bill puts Wheeler in the torture rack until he scoops down out of it. Bill goes for a suplex, but Wheeler goes for the roll-up and ends up getting hit with a clothesline. Wheeler hits a suplex to Cage. Insurigi and Wheeler finally tags in Harwood. Cage is in the corner of the ring and he punches him. 

Harwood hits a flying forearm. Cage superkicks him. Wheeler is back. Cage has both of them in his arms and tosses them. Bill is in the ring and they hit a jackhammer and a chokeslam. Wheeler is on Bill’s shoulders until Harwood saves him. Cage flips over the top rope. It’s insane. Bill hits a big boot to Wheeler and gets a two-count. Things change quickly and FTR hit their finishing move the Shatter Machine and Wheeler gets the pin.

Winners and still tag team champions FTR!

Post-match, Harwood talks about FTR’s legacy and calls out The Young Bucks for a match at Wembley Stadium.

A video package of Starks and Punk airs.

Back from a commercial break and it’s Tony Schiavone talking to Juice Robinson. Jay White comes out after he hits the cardboard cutout of him, Robinson freaks and leaves. The Gunns come out and make fun of Schiavone.

AEW TBS Title Match: Kris Statlander (c) Vs. Mercedes Martinez

The TBS Championship between the champion Statlander and Martinez is next. Martinez gets the first hit and they go back and forth. Martinez kicks Statlander in the corner. She hits two butterfly suplexes. Statlander kicks her in the head. Elbows to Statlander. Statlander is on the ground and then Martinez gets a suplex and gets a two-count. She punches her in the corner, and Statlander hits an elbow, but Martinez is still in control of the match. Commercial break.

Back from the break. Statlander hits a clothesline and knees to Martinez, who is now out of the ring. The crowd is chanting “Women’s Wrestling.” Statlander tries to go for a crossbody but misses.

Statlander throws her back in the ring. Bodyslam to Martinez and gets a two-count. Statlander is on the top rope, Martinez hits her back and goes for a suplex on the top rope. It was a cool move. A right knee and a two-count. Inside cradle. Statlander gets a two-count. Wheel barrier, but Statlander counters it. Roll-up and a bridge and Statlander retains!

Winner and still champion Statlander

Post-match and Martinez attack the champion. Diamante comes out and looks like she is going to save the champion, but she hangs up her. Willow Nightingale runs out and saves Statlander.

Backstage with Schiavone and Toni Storm. She’s upset that she’s not the champion anymore. She ends with it telling Schiavone to “shut up.”

Samoa Joe vs. Serpentico

Next up is ROH Television Champion Samoa Joe in action. His opponent is already in the ring, it’s Serpentico. The match ends quickly with submission like it was only 10 seconds.

Winner: Joe via Submission

Post-match, Joe talks about All In and how he has no opponent. He brings up losing to Punk by a roll-up. He wants a match against Punk at All In and is giving him one week to answer the challenge.

A video package of Andrade getting his masked back and then it’s announced that the Acclaimed is next before another commercial break.

Back from the break and it was an interview with Schiavone that was taped earlier. Bowens talks about trying to give Billy Gunn his boots back, but he wouldn’t take them back. Caster says he wants to respect his decision to retire. Bowens tells him how much Gunn means to the Acclaimed. He’s crying. Next up is the Trios Tag Team Titles match.

AEW World Trios Championship Match: The House of Black (c) Vs. Darius Martin, Action Andretti, Lee Johnson

Julia Hart is banned from ringside. Brody King starts the match with Martin and gets the upper hand throughout. Malakai Black gets tagged in. Andretti accidentally hits his tag team partner and a hurricanrana.

Outside of the ring and Andretti gets hit in the face and into the barricade. They are back in the ring and Black hits some back elbows and knees. A leg sweep and Black tags in Matthews. Big kick and Matthews cleans house. It cuts to commercial.

Back from the break and Andretti tags in Johnson. Johnson does a standing enzuigiri and a double moonsault. He has momentum but not for long with King in the ring. King kicks out after a one-count. Martin and Andretti are now teaming together with kicks after Johnson is laid out. They try hard, but the House of Black is working together and it ends with King hitting a discus clothesline and getting the pin for the team.

Winners and still the champions: The House of Black.

Backstage “Powerhouse” Hobbs is asked to join QT Marshall, but he refuses.

Back from the break and its Christian Cage, Luchasus, and Cage’s daughter. She looks scared! Cage’s daughter asks her father if she can have his belt, she tells security to remove her before saying “Go find your mother.”

Metalik vs. Jay White

Metalik is in the ring and it’s his “Collision” debut and he will be facing White. The other members of the Bullet Gold Club are out with him. The Gunns are on commentary.

The match starts with a lockup. White kicks Metalik in the corner and then some chops. Metalik hits a hurricanrana. White throws him out of the ring and Robinson mocks him. Back in the ring and White hits some chops and a neck breaker gets a two-count. Metalik tries to fight back and hits a bulldog and a hurricanrana.

They are outside of the ring and a moonsault! Metalik has the upperhand until he misses another moonsault. White hits the bladerunner for the win.

Winner: Jay White

Post-match, they all celebrate even the cardboard cutout.

A video package shows Anna Jay trashing talking the AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. Up next is the “championship” match. 

Real AEW World Championship Match: CM Punk (c) Vs. Ricky Starks

Back from the break and Jim Ross is on commentary. Steamboat comes out in a referee outfit. Starks comes next then Punk. The bell rings and they lock up. It goes back and forth. The crowd is chanting both for Starks and Punk.

Shoulder tackle to Starks and Punk taunts him after. Arms drags to Punk, Punk goes outside of the ring and STarks marks Punk now. He comes back in. Starks kicks Punk then and an elbow to the head. Closed fists to Punk in the corner. Kick in the midsection and Punk goes for the GTS, but Starks counters, and both of them are outside of the ring. It cuts to a break.

Back from the break and both of them are in the ring and Starks is repeatedly hitting Punk in the corner until Punk turns it around. Slap to the face and Starks goes outside of the ring and pulls Punk out, but instead, Starks goes over the barricade. Forearms to Starks and Steamboat stops Punk, who looks like he was going to hit him.

Punk and Starks are back in the ring, but not for long, Starks hits a baseball slide to Punk’s face. Steamboat talks to Punk, but moves away when Starks comes close. Starks goes for the cover but gets only a one count. Stomp to Punk’s midsection and he throws him into the second turnbuckle. Starks is getting the best of Punk at the moment. Another commercial break.

Punk and Starks are on the top rope and Punk hits a suplex, and gets a two-count. A big right hand to Starks and then a neck breaker. Big knee in the corner to Starks. Punk gets a two-count. Punk is on the top rope again and botches whatever he was going to hit at that time. It was cringy.

Powerbomb to Punk and Starks gets almost a three-count! Punk gets thrown in the turnbuckle and so does Starks who misses Punk and hits the second turnbuckle. The crowd is chanting, “This is awesome.”

Starks counters the piledriver and gets a two-count after hitting the Alamba Slam. The referee gets accidentally knocked down. Starks tries to use the ropes to get the pin, but Steamboat pushes his boots off. Punk goes for the roll-up and Steamboat counts to three and Punk retains.

And still the “real” world champion: CM Punk

Post-match, STarks throws Steamboat into Punk and then attacks Steamboat with his own belt!!! Punk tries to get back into the ring but gets pushed out. Punk finally saves him with a chair. He’s upset at what happened and chases Starks out of the arena.
