A former WWE star was spotted at AEW Dynamite on January 11 during a segment featuring MJF berating both Freddie Prinze Jr and Ken Jeong.
Having first turned his attention to Ken Jeong, MJF would then turn his attention for former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr, roasting the pair in quick succession.
The AEW cameras would pan across the front row which revealed that former WWE star Chris Masters (The Masterpiece) was in attendance.
He wouldn’t be acknowledged by either the commentary team or MJF himself.
Masters did, however, post his own footage to Twitter, confirming that it was indeed the two-time NWA National Champion in attendance.
He is best known for his time in WWE, as in 2005, he made his main roster debut. He’s remembered for his” The Masterlock” finisher, a full nelson hold, where he would challenge several wrestlers to the Masterlock Challenge and reward the winner with a prize if they could break it.
The Masterlock Challenge storyline ended after Bobby Lashley broke it in 2007. He was released in 2007 before making his return to WWE in 2009. Masters would spend the next two years in WWE until he was released again in 2011. Since then, he has worked for GCW and TNA Wrestling. He currently wrestles for the NWA.
In December 2022, Masters posted a cryptic message on Twitter hinting that hinted at a potential appearance at WWE Royal Rumble on January 28 from San Antonio, Texas.
