WWE Smackdown Results - May 21, 2021

WWE Smackdown Results – May 21, 2021 – Tonight’s WWE SmackDown opens live with Michael Cole welcoming us to the ThunderDome at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. He’s joined at ringside by Pat McAfee. Cole introduces a Parade of Champions on the stage. We see new SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews with Commander Azeez, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka. Cole hypes tonight’s Fatal 4 Way for the Intercontinental Title, saying it will be the main event.

Cole sends us to Sonya Deville in the ring. She welcomes us to an extra special SmackDown. She talks about the news that broke today on WWE leaving the ThunderDome to return to the road, back where WWE belongs, back to the fans. Deville says Adam Pearce is on the ground scouting locations for the tour. We see mainstream media coverage of today’s announcement. Deville hypes the Parade of Champions and introduces each champion but Crews calls for the music to be cut. He’s not happy about having to defend in a Fatal 4 Way tonight, but says he will retain and will unleash destruction on Big E, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Deville introduces Belair last among the champions on the stage.

Deville now calls on fans to welcome the WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. The music hits but out comes Paul Heyman to the stage instead. Fans are already booing. Heyman says the Parade of Champions is nice but it’s not a parade of champions, it’s a parade of title holders. He points at each champion and calls them a title holder, and says Reigns is not a title holder, he’s a champion, not just a champion, THE champion, the preeminent champions, of all of WWE, and all of sports entertainment. Heyman says when fans buy tickets to these upcoming events, they will do it with confidence that WWE is represented by a preeminent champion like our Tribal Chief. Heyman says Reigns will not be involved in this Parade of Title Holders, but there will be a Parade of Champion later tonight, at Reigns’ leisure. Heyman thanks Deville and heads back to the back to boos.

Bayley makes her way into the ring and asks why is Sonya celebrating these champions without acknowledging her since she was champion for 380 days and a double champion.  You should be thanking me for putting this company on my back, especially you Dominik.  Bayley says she used to look up to Natalya and Tamina and then you get relevant by winning the title.  Bayley says hello to Apollo and Azeez.  Bayley says the cheater should be acknowledging her.  You used that pony tail to win the title at Wrestlemania and you wrapped it around her leg to win at Backlash.  Bayley demands that Sonya strip her of the title.

— It is time for Aleister Black.

he mentions Chapter Four.  Father’s lessons are painfully etched on his body.  This pain serves a purpose.  There is no lie with pain.  it is honest and it is truth.  Where would we be without this truth and this armor of agony.  Let’s hear about where we keep are deepest and darkest sins.  Sins that you embody.  Father always said there isn’t an art to being evil.  This is full of cruel thoughts and evil dreams.  You live proudly  in your cesspool of sins and denial because it is all you are.  It has become your identity.  To be loathsome and blind.  You are sick and dying.  It is time for me to separate the weak from the strong.  As Father taught me, it is time to cull the herd.

In the Arena:

We are finally back in the arena and Roman Reigns is ready to speak.

Roman says he believes himself to be a humble man.  In fact, I take every opportunity I can to teach my sons about humility.  I don’t like to brag so I will use this opportunity to allow my special counsel to celebrate me.

Paul says this is a unique surprise.  He says he has a moment to acknowledge your tribal chief.  Undefeated since his return to WWE.  Scared the Fiend to Raw.  Humanized the Monster Braun Strowman.  Baptized his cousin into the championship bloodline.  KO-ed Kevin Owens.  Had the most celebrated victory when he pinned both Daniel Bryan and Edge.  Took personal pleasure in banishing Daniel Bryan off Smackdown into a life of Bella retirement.  Then the Backlash against the strongest and most talented grappler on the Smackdown roster, Cesaro.  Your champion beat Cesaro on his own with no one’s help at Cesaro’s own game. My tribal chief, it is a career highlight not only celebrate but acknowledge the most dominant champion in WWE and in sports, Roman Reigns.

Paul asks what else can he do. Roman asks Paul to get his cousin.  Paul tells the production people to play Jimmy’s music, but Cesaro’s music starts up instead and he makes his way to the stage.

Cesaro comes to the stage in a suit, wearing a sling on his arm. Reigns says to cut this bum’s music. Cesaro is in a bad mood tonight. He says he was in the back and all he heard was this annoying yapping in his ear. Reigns asks Cesaro what he’s going to do, and says he can break Cesaro’s other arm. Cesaro says that’s just a flesh wound and he’d fight Reigns with no arms. Cesaro proposes a match with Reigns at Hell In a Cell. Reigns asks if he really wants to do this again. Rollins suddenly runs down and attacks Cesaro, sending him into the barrier and then the steel ring steps.

Rollins runs back down the ramp and attacks Cesaro. Rollins grabs the hurt arm and slams Cesaro down to the floor by it. Rollins delivers a big Stomp at the bottom of the ramp. Cesaro clutches his arm as referee Charles Robinson checks on him. The other officials back Rollins away through the timekeeper’s area. Rollins jumps over the barrier, runs back over to the bottom of the ramp and this time delivers a Stomp to Cesaro on the steel. Fans boo him some more while Cesaro is laid out face-down. Rollins watches with a crazed look in his eyes. Medics bring a stretcher down the ramp for Cesaro as we go to commercial.

— We are back with some moments ago… We cut to the back where Seth Rollins is asked about what just happened.  Seth says he blacked out.  He sees Cesaro on the stretcher and he wants to know why is he making him do this.
