Daniel Bryan Teases Retirement

Daniel Bryan Teases Retirement – Daniel Bryan worked the main event of WrestleMania 37 – Night 2 when he wrestled Edge and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match.

Reigns went over in the contest to retain the Universal Title. Heading into this match, Bryan made two things public – this could be his last WrestleMania main event match and he’s inching towards no longer being a full-time wrestler.

The former WWE Champion has previously cited the reason for not wanting to be a full-time wrestler due to him wanting to be with his family more. It should be noted that he still has plans to wrestle just not on a full-time basis.

Bryan opened up to BT Sports about where his head was at on this night.

“It was really bizarre. It’s been 9 days now since it happened, it’s taken me time to fully process what the experience was like because it wasn’t like a normal thing. I felt very out of body in it. When I’m wrestling, I feel everything and feel like I’m enjoying it and I am having fun. This was weird, I was out there and it felt like I was detached. It was so strange that before the match started, I got this strange feeling like, ‘Oh no, is this what it’s like before you die? Am I going to die? Huh, well, okay.’ It was really bizarre. I don’t know why or how it happened, but it was unlike anything I’ve felt while wrestling before.”

Bryan said he was calm before heading to the ring and not worried about things because he enjoys wrestling more now that he’s back since coming out of retirement. He’s tried to explain how he felt about it to Brie Bella but has failed to do so.

He later added (around the 9:54 mark), “I haven’t watched it back. I don’t know if watching it back would help figure out why I was so detached.”

He noted that people think of him as a hippie, but he’s not. Instead, he’s really into science and fact-based things.

“Maybe it was a sign that it’s time to let go of being a full-time wrestler, which is something that I have been thinking for a while.”

He recalled Shawn Michaels telling him when he first started training that when you don’t get nervous right before you go perform, that’s the time to retire. However, he doesn’t think the same way.

“The odd detachment was like ‘Woah.’ Like I said, I’m either gonna die or maybe it’s a sign that this isn’t it and it isn’t the same type of fulfilling that it was before. I’ve been trying to meditate on it and talk to my friends that I’m close with like ‘what is that?’”
