The 2020 WWE SummerSlam Kickoff pre-show opens up live from the WWE ThunderDome at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
Charly Caruso welcomes us. She’s joined by Renee Young, Peter Rosenberg, and WWE Hall of Famers JBL and Booker T. Renee confirms that this is her last weekend with WWE. The panel goes over the card now.
The panel sends us to a promo for The Fiend vs. WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman.
There’s a ring backstage for interviews. Sarah Schreiber is with Zelina Vega, Andrade and Zelina Vega. Garza wants to know where Charly Caruso is. He tries give his role to Schreiber instead. Schreiber asks Vega about poisoning RAW Tag Team Champion Montez Ford and she dismisses the idea, saying his little “tummy ache” is being blown out of proportion. She goes on about being innocent, and says the WWE Universe is poisoned by The Street Profits, and her guys are the anecdote.
The panel talks about the poisoning and gives us a look at Jeff Hardy winning the WWE Intercontinental Title from AJ Styles on SmackDown.
We see how WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry and his kids appeared on The Bump to discuss tonight’s WWE Title match, in a segment sponsored by Welch’s grape juice.
Back from a break and Charly shows us some mainstream media coverage of ThunderDome.
We move on to the Mandy Rose/Sonya Deville match. We have a video package.
Charly asks Renee about Mandy trying to resolve things only to make Sonya react worse. Renee says she is angry this is no longer a hair match. She wanted to see someone with a shaved head. Pete asks how to deal with this stipulation because if you lose, you are out of a job. JBL says Sonya felt like she was second fiddle to Mandy. Sonya sees an opportunity in Mandy. Renee says Mandy realizes what Sonya is going to do to her.
Renee brings up the shampoo contract match Booker had with Edge.
We see Rey Mysteiro and Dominik Mysterio arrive at the building along with Dominik’s mother (and Rey’s Wife) Angie. We go to commercial.
We are back with a look at Asuka’s night with two title matches. We have a video package. Charly mentions the Smackdown Title Match will be first, followed by the Raw Title Match. Shayna Baszler shows up and she asks if anyone gives a crap. She cares about the Raw Title match. It doesn’t matter how that match goes because I got next. Charly brings up how Nia Jax talks about how she has next. Nia does not care about the title, she is obsessed with Shayna. Nia has no trouble finding her. When her suspension is lifted, if Nia is looking for her, she is ready for her.
Charly turns the discussion to Retribution. Peter says he is ready for Retribution tonight with JBL and Booker here. Booker says he wants nothing to do with Retribution. JBL brings up the invasion by WCW and Booker says he was the one doing the invading. Charly and Renee ask who are Retribution. JBL talks about the legacy of prior invasions. Renee questions JBL’s comments.
We take a look at the Street Fight between Dominik Mysterio and Seth Rollins. We have a video package.
Renee asks what does it feel to get hit by a kendo stick. Booker says it is serious business, but to get bruised, battered, and torn, it shows about Dominik being ready for a fight. JBL talks about having a father as a wrestler does not mean you are going to be a success.
WWE United States Championship Match: Apollo Crews vs. MVP
We go to the ring and out first comes WWE United States Champion Apollo Crews as Mike Rome does the introductions. Tom Phillips is on commentary with Samoa Joe and Byron Saxton. The Hurt Business is out next – MVP with Bobby Lashley and WWE 24/7 Champion Shelton Benjamin. MVP heads to the ring as his partners return to the back.
Fans look on from the LED boards as they go at it. MVP goes right into a knee bar but Crews gets the bottom rope. Crews with more offense until MVP goes to the floor for a breather. MVP brings it back in and they go to the corner. MVP with a cheap shot while the referee is in between them. MVP comes back with a big dropkick, then keeps MVP down. More back and forth now. MVP dumps Crews over the top to the floor and he hits part of his face on the steel ring steps.
MVP slams Crews face-first into the announce table and brings it back in. MVP gets hung up in the corner and Crews drops him. Crews goes to the top but MVP crotches him. MVP climbs up with a superplex and a 2 count. Crews comes back and clotheslines MVP to the floor, then runs the ropes and leaps out, taking him back down. The referee counts now.
They both make it back in at the 9 count. Crews unloads in the corner and hits a splash. Crews drops MVP again and hits the standing moonsault for a close 2 count. They tangle and Crews blocks the Playmaker. Crews comes right back and hits the sitdown powerbomb for the pin to win.
Winner: Apollo Crews
After the match, Crews stands tall as the music hits. MVP and Lashley rush the ring but Crews avoids a beat down and retreats to the ramp with the title.
We move on to the WWE Championship Match between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre. We have a video package.
Charly asks if Drew can get the job done tonight. JBL says he does not think so. It does not matter if Randy is a good guy or not. Randy wants to be the best ever and he will win. Booker says Randy is dealing with something internally. He may start to believe his press clippings. He says Randy may have to check himself after facing Drew. Peter picks Randy to win. Renee says Randy is unstoppable.
Charly thanks Renee for everything she has done in WWE. Renee thanks WWE and the WWE Universe. She says they have changed her life.
We see Asuka backstage walking and that’s it for the Kickoff.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Bayley vs. Asuka
Asuka makes her way out first. Out next are the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley with RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. They pose on the ramp together as the pyro goes off. Bayley hits the ring and Banks waits at ringside. We get formal ring introductions from Greg Hamilton.
Before the match, Asuka says you’ll never see it coming, but tonight you will see her become champion tonight because no one is ready for Asuka.
They lock up and Asuka with a wrist lock and forearms to the head. Asuka with a drop kick. Asuka with kicks to the chest. Asuka misses a sliding kick. Asuka with a waist lock and she applies a modified Koji Clutch and Bayley gets to the ropes. Bayley goes to the floor and Asuka with a baseball slide to the ankle. Asuka drops the arm on the middle rope and then she knocks Bayley off the apron with a hip attack. Asuka comes off the ring steps and hits a DDT.
Asuka brings Bayley back into the ring and she gets a near fall. Bayley kicks Asuka in the knee and sends Asuka into the middle rope. Bayley with a cutter in the ropes and then Bayley goes to the turnbuckles and hits a cutter for a near fall. Bayley kicks Asuka while she holds her right arm close to her torso. Bayley chokes Asuka in the ropes. Bayley with a suplex for a near fall. Bayley with a reverse chin lock. Bayley with a knee to the back while Bayley argues with Michael Cole. Bayley with punches to Asuka and Asuka kicks Bayley in the leg. Bayley gets a near fall.
Bayley with a forearm and Asuka holds on to the ropes on an Irish whip attempt. Asuka with kicks to the leg. Bayley blocks a kick and Bayley with a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Asuka with a back elbow and kick followed by a rollup for a near fall. Asuka with a round kick to the temple. Asuka with a shoulder tackle followed by a second one. Asuka with a snap mare and hip attack into the corner. Asuka with a pop up knee and a German suplex.

Asuka goes for a hip attack and Bayley catches her and atomic drops the leg onto the apron. Bayley clips Asuka and gets a near fall. Bayley with a Trailer Hitch. Asuka reverses the hold and goes for a German suplex but Bayley with an elbow. Asuka with a Codebreaker for a near fall. Asuka goes to the apron and the turnbuckles. Bayley stops Asuka but Asuka kicks Bayley away. Asuka goes for a missile drop kick but Bayley catches Asuka and applies a knee bar. Asuka gets to the ropes and Bayley releases the hold.
Bayley with a sunset flip power bomb into the turnbuckles and Bayley goes up top. Bayley goes for the elbow drop and Asuka catches Bayley and applies a cross arm breaker. Asuka kicks Sasha as Bayley gets to the ropes. Asuka with a spinning back fist on the floor. Sasha tries to hit Asuka and Asuka avoids her. Bayley with a rollup for a near fall. Asuka with a hip attack that hits Sasha when Bayley moves. Bayley gets the three count with an inside cradle.
Winner: Bayley
After the bell, the music hits but Banks immediately rushes the ring and unloads on Asuka while she’s down. They double team Asuka and drive her into the mat. Bayley exits the ring with the title and kicks at some of the virtual fans at ringside. We go to replays. A furious Asuka recovers in the ring as The Golden Role Models taunt her from the ramp.
Backstage:
We are back after some commercials. Dominik Mysterio is in the locker room with mom and dad. He kisses his mom and then he says it is a big night. He says he appreciates dad being in his corner and he starts to ask Rey something. Rey says he can’t promise anything. Dominik says Seth has done terrible things to the both of us. I need you to let me handle this on my own and be a man. I want your word that you won’t get involved. Rey says he is giving Dominik his word.

– Kevin Owens makes his way to the ringside area and he joins the announce team for the next match.
WWE RAW Tag Team Championship Match: Street Profits vs. Andrade and Angel Garza (with Zelina Vega)
Before the match, Montez Ford says we know that Zelina did it. We are the Jordan and Pippen of the tag team division. You did the crime so you will do the time.
Ford and Andrade start things off and Ford with forearms but Andrade with elbows. Andrade with a chop. Ford flips over Andrade and hits a flying clothesline. Ford runs into a boot from Andrade. Ford with a jumping Frankensteiner and he clotheslines Andrade over the top rope. Ford and Dawkins with a double flapjack to Garza. Ford with a flip dive onto Garza and Andrade but they catch Ford and hit a double slam on the floor. Andrade kicks Ford and connects with a forearm. Garza tags in and Ford is sent to the apron. Garza with a drop kick to knock Ford off the apron. Garza sends Ford back into the ring and gets a near fall.
Garza with an arm bar. Ford kicks Garza but Garza traps Ford on the turnbuckles and drop kicks both knees. The pants come off and Andrade tags in and applies a triangle in the ropes. Andrade with an arm bar on Ford. Andrade backs Ford into the corner and Garza tags in and hits a running knee in the corner. Garza gets a near fall. Ford is put in the tree of woe and Andrade tags in for a double stomp and a near fall. Garza tags back in and he kicks Ford in the head and applies an arm bar. Ford with a jumping enzuigiri and he tags in Dawkins. Angelo with clotheslines to Andrade and a flying back elbow.
Dawkins knocks Garza off the apron and hits a spinning splash on Andrade. Andrade with an elbow followed by a spinning back elbow. Dawkins with a spear and both men are down. Ford tags in and so does Garza. Ford with a cross body and Garza rolls through and gets his foot on the ropes. Garza with a drop kick to the side of the head for a near fall. Zelina gets on the apron and argues with the referee. Garza with a super kick and Ford falls back and knocks Vega off the apron. Garza with a double underhook but Ford lands on his feet.
Dawkins tags in and hits Cash Out followed by Ford with a frog splash for the three count.
Winners: The Street Profits
After the match, The Profits celebrate as the music hits and we go to replays. There’s some tension between the heels. Owens leaves the announce table and says Aleister Black is invited to appear on The KO Show on RAW.
Backstage:
We go to Kayla Braxton with Bayley and Sasha Banks. Kayla asks about Sasha’s help and Bayley cuts her off. Bayley says nothing will ruin this historical and magical night. Kayla asks if Bayley will return the favor tonight. Sasha says if Bayley can beat Asuka, then she can beat Asuka. Sasha says she will love being a double champ and making Asuka tap out. Bayley says tonight will be a clean sweep as she sweeps the canvas and then they are going to retain the tag titles next week.

Sonya pushes Mandy and Mandy tries for a running knee but misses. Mandy with a slap and they go to the floor. Sonya with knees and forearms. Mandy sends Sonya into the ringside barrier and the ring steps. They exchange punches on the floor. Mandy with a kick. Mandy with a suplex on the floor and then she runs Sonya into the ring post. Mandy sends Sonya into the ring post again. Mandy with a forearm. Mandy goes to the announce table and she comes off with a clothesline. Mandy goes under the ring and she gets a table.
Mandy sets up the table on the floor but Sonya hits Mandy with a chair. Sonya slams Mandy’s head into the announce table. Sonya gets a near fall. Sonya with kicks to the chest followed by a sliding knee for a near fall. Sonya kicks Mandy in the corner. Mandy blocks a kick and she takes Sonya to the mat and connects with punches. Mandy with a clothesline into the corner and she tries for the running knee but Sonya avoids it and she applies a Dragon sleeper. Sonya pulls Mandy to the mat and applies a body scissors.
Sonya rakes the eyes and Mandy turns over but Sonya with a Triangle. Mandy gets a near fall and Sonya releases the hold. Sonya with kicks. Sonya with a knee to the side of the head. Mandy with punches but Sonya with a knee. Mandy hits the jumping knee for a near fall. Sonya goes to the floor and Mandy follows. Sonya is sent into the ringside barrier. Mandy slams Sonya’s head into the announce table. Mandy puts Sonya on the table at ringside that Mandy set up earlier.
Mandy goes to the apron and Sonya rolls off the table to the floor. Mandy goes under the ring and Mandy slides a chair across the table but Sonya avoids it. Mandy tries it again and misses again. Sonya with a knee and a bicycle kick to Mandy. They return to the ring and Sonya has Mandy on her shoulders but Mandy escapes. Mandy goes for a double underhook but Sonya with a block and knee. Sonya with a butterfly gourdbuster attempt but Mandy lands on her feet. Mandy with a jumping knee and another one. Mandy with another running knee. Mandy with a butterfly gourdbuster followed by a running knee for the three count.

After the match, the music hits as Rose celebrates. Deville must leave WWE. Deville rolls to the floor and is shocked. Deville throws a bit of a fit at the announce table. Otis runs down with his Money In the Bank briefcase to celebrate in the ring with Rose. Rose tries to do the Caterpillar as Otis looks on.

Street Fight: Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins
It’s time for Dominik Mysterio’s WWE debut. Seth Rollins is out first with Murphy. Dominik is out next with Rey Mysterio to be in his corner. We also saw his mother send him on his way.
They lock up and Rollins with a double leg take down and he paint brushes Dominik. They go for a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock and Seth wtih a side head lock take down. Seth tells Dominik to put him in a side head lock. Dominik does it and Seth sends Dominik to the mat. They lock up and Seth with a side head lock. Seth with a wrist lock but Dominik with punches. Seth with a knee. Dominik with a satellite arm drag. Seth holds on to the ropes on a O’Connor Roll but Dominik with arm drags.
They return to the test of strength and Seth with kicks to Dominik and he chokes him in the corner. Seth with a slam. Dominik has trouble getting up after the slam and Murphy gets a kendo stick for Seth from under the ring. Dominik with a drop kick. Dominik gets the kendo stick and Seth gets out of the way as he runs away from Dominik. Seth with punches as they return to the ring and Seth with kicks. Seth with an Irish whip and Dominik goes down. Seth with another hard Irish whip. Seth with a suplex.
Seth has some words for Rey as he works on Dominik’s neck and sends him face first into the mat. Dominik with punches but Seth with Slingblade. Seth chokes Dominik in the ropes and pulls at the fingers. We see Angie watching in the back. Murphy gives Seth a chair. Seth tells Rey to get involved. Dominik tells Rey not to help him and Seth with kicks to the back. Seth sets for the Stomp off the chair but misses. Dominik with a drop toe hold onto the chair. Dominik with punches in the corner.
Seth sets for a power bomb but Dominik counters with a rana that sends Seth into the turnbuckles. Seth catches Dominik on a float over and Dominik with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Dominik gets the kendo stick and hits Seth a number of times. Dominik goes up top and Seth crotches him. Seth with punches. Seth goes for a superplex but Dominik blocks it. Seth is pushed off the turnbuckles and Seth leaps up and hits a superplex and rolls through into a Falcon Arrow for a near fall.
Murphy gives Seth two kendo sticks. Seth hits Dominik in the midsection. Seth hits Dominik in the back with the kendo stick. Rey gets on the apron while we see Angie watching from Gorilla Position. Seth tells Murphy to get a table while Seth continues to hit Dominik with the kendo stick.
The table is pushed into the ring. Seth sets up the table Seth hits Dominik with the kendo stick and Seth puts Dominik on the turnbuckles. Seth is crotched on the top rope and Dominik with a side Russian Leg Sweep off the turnbuckles through the table. Dominik goes to the apron and then he goes up top. Dominik with a frog splash for a near fall. Dominik goes to the floor and he gets a chair. Seth pushes the chair out of the ring and Seth with a super kick and power bomb. Seth tries to take off the top of Dominik’s ring gear.
Seth hits Dominik with the kendo stick. Rey gets on the apron and Dominik tells him to stay out of it. Seth with many more kendo stick shots. Murphy gets a pair of handcuffs and gives them to Seth. Seth drags Dominik to the handcuffs while telling Rey he can stop this at any time. Angie makes her way to the stage and Rey talks to her. Dominik with a rollup for a near fall and then a double leg take down. Murphy with a knee to Dominik. Murphy tries to drive Dominik’s eye into the ring step. Rey stops Murphy and punches Murphy. Seth attacks Rey. Murphy and Seth continue to work over Rey. Rey is handcuffed to the ropes. Murphy and Rollins have kendo sticks and Seth sees Angie on the stage. Rey tells Seth to take him.
Dominik hits Seth from behind and sends Murphy into the crowd. Dominik sends Seth into the ring steps. Dominik with a back body drop to Murphy followed by a kick to Rollins. Dominik with a 619 and then he goes up top. Seth gets his knees up on a frog splash. Seth tells Rey to reach for his son. Seth with The Stomp for the three count.
Winner: Seth Rollins
After the match, Murphy gives Seth the key for the handcuffs and Seth drops it on Dominik. Rollins exits the ring as we go to replays. Rollins and Dominik watch from the stage as Rey is freed to check on his son. Rey talks to his son and they hug.
WWE Raw Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks vs. Asuka
Sasha goes for the leg as the bell rings. Sasha with an ankle pick but Asuka with kicks. Sasha with a double leg take down and punches. Asuka with kicks to the midsection. Asuak with a sliding forearm that forces Sasha to the floor. Asuka grabs Sasha and sends her to the ring but Sasha kicks Asuka from the apron. Sasha goes for a head scissors take down to the floor but Asuka counters into a knee bar. Asuak with a hip attack into the corner. Asuka with a snap mare and kick to the back. Asuka gets a near fall. Asuka goes for a cross arm breaker and Sasha locks her hands. Sasha with kicks to Asuka. Sasha misses a shoulder from the apron and Asuka with a kick. Asuka with kicks on the apron and she misses a kick and hits the ring post. Sasha with a sunset flip power bomb onto the floor.
The referee makes his count and Asuka gets back into the ring before the ten count. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha with another near fall. Sasha sends Asuka into the turnbuckles and kicks Asuka many times. Sasha chokes Asuka in the corner. Sasha with a kick in the corner for a near fall. Sasha with shoulders in the corner. Sasha puts Asuka on the middle rope and connects with a forearm. Asuka stops the double knee drop and Asuka gets Sasha on her shoulders and sends Sasha to the mat face first and applies a knee bar and turns it into an ankle lock. Asuka goes to the turnbuckles when Sasha escapes the hold. Sasha with a kick to Asuka followed by an elbow.
Sasha sets for a superplex but Asuka blocks it. Asuka with a DDT off the turnbuckles. Asuka gets a near fall and then Sasha rolls to the floor. Asuka sends Sasha into the apron and they return to the ring. Asuka goes up top and hits a missile drop kick for a near fall. Asuka kicks Sasha in the corner. Sasha with a Codebreaker for a near fall. Sasha kicks Asuka and then Sasha goes to the turnbuckles. Sasha misses a frog splash. Asuka catches Sasha and applies the Asuka Lock. Sasha escapes but Asuka with the Asuka Lock again and Sasha floats over for a near fall. Sasha with a Banks Statement and Sasha rolls into the center of the ring.
Asuka with an Asuka Lock. Sasha with an elbow and she sends Asuka to the mat. Asuka with a thrust kick. Bayley gets on the apron and Asuak goes for the Hip Attack. Asuka kicks Bayley to the floor. Asuka with the Asuka Lock and Sasha taps out.

After the match, Asuka takes the title and celebrates as her music hits. Banks sits up and she looks confused, angry. Bayley comes in to apologize but Banks stares over at her, then back at Asuka. Asuka makes her exit with the title.

WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton makes his way to the ring first. During his entrance we see a clip fo Shawn Michaels. Michaels says he lived by the golden rule and since he cannot do anything tonight, he hopes that McIntyre gives Randy a Claymore Kick. Drew McIntyre is out next.
Randy goes to the floor to get into Drew’s head. Randy gets back into the ring and Drew waits for him to get back in. Randy goes into the ropes and the referee holds Drew back. Orton with a kick and then Orton goes to the floor. Drew chases after Orton and they return to the ring. Orton kicks Drew in the back. Drew misses a chop and Orton goes for an RKO but Drew escapes. Drew with a shoulder tackle. Drew’s knee gives out briefly and Orton tries for an RKO and Drew escapes.
Drew goes to the floor. Drew returns to the ring. Orton has a kick blocked and Drew sends Orton into the corner. Drew with punches and kicks in the corner. Drew with an Irish whip but he misses a kick. Orton misses on an RKO attempt. Drew chargse at Randy and misses and goes shoulder first into the ring post. Orton sends Drew into the ringside barrier. Drew is sent into the announce table and ring post. Drew returns into the table and Orton rearranges the table. Orton slams Drew’s head into the announce table and hits a backdrop driver onto the announce table.
Orton with another backdrop driver onto the announce table. Orton puts Drew on the announce table and then suplexes Drew to the floor. They return to the ring and Orton gets a near fall. Orton with a reverse chin lock. Orton does the Garvin Stomp to Drew. Orton runs the boot laces across the face. Orton kicks Drew. Orton poses and Drew with punches to the midsection. Orton with a kick. Drew with an Irish whip and Orton gets his boot up but Drew sees it and grabs the leg and hits a knee breaker.
Orton kicks Drew in the knee. Drew tries to get back to his feet and Orton punches Drew. Orton with more punches. Orton runs into a spinebuster from Drew. Drew with a figure four leg lock after Orton tries to block its application. Drew gets a few near falls while Orton’s shoulders are on the mat. Drew slaps Orton. Orton pulls the referee out of the way and Orton with a thumb to the eye to get out of the hold. Drew wtih a chop and Drew is bleeding from the eye after a kick from Orton.
Drew and Orton exchange punches, forearms, and European uppercuts. Orton with a kick to the knee. Orton and Drew with punches. Orton goes for an RKO but Drew escapes and hits a series of clotheslines. Drew with a belly-to-belly throw and a belly-to-belly suplex from the corner. Drew goes up top and hits a flying clothesline. Orton is sent into the turnbuckles. Drew puts Orton on the turnbuckles and chops Orton. Drew sets for a superplex but first he punches Orton. Orton crotches Drew. Orton with head butts and punches. Drew hangs in the tree of woe. Drew pulls himself up and hits an hanging belly-to-belly superplex. Drew gets a near fall.
Drew sets for Future Shock but Orton escapes. Drew hits the Future Shock for a near fall. Drew gets Orotn on his shoulders but Orton with elbows. Orton sends Drew to the apron. Drew with a punch and Drew goes up top. Drew comes off the turnbuckles but misses. Orton with a power slam for a near fall. Orton sets for the hanging DDT but Drew gets back into the ring and Drew with a Glasgow Kiss. Drew clotheslines Orton over the top rope and both men fall to the floor.
Orton with a kick to the chest followed by a hanging DDT. Orton looks around and twists to the mat to set for the RKO. Drew collapses to the mat as blood pours down the forehead. Orton winds up for the kick. Drew counters with a power bomb. Drew sets for the Claymore but misess. Orton tries for an RKO but Drew counters into a backslide for the three count.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
After the match, Orton and McIntyre are both stunned. Orton goes right to the floor and sits against the barrier, stunned at the loss. Drew recovers and takes the WWE Title. He says this isn’t his title or Orton’s title, this is everybody’s. Drew stands tall with the title as his music hits. He has a few more words for Orton before going to the corner to pose. Orton looks on from the floor. Drew stands tall in the ring once again, yelling out another message to Orton. Drew kisses the belt to end the segment.
– We get a video of Keith Lee will coming to RAW tomorrow night.
– Time for a video package for our main event of the night. The video is focusing a lot on Alexa Bliss so… Expect the “unexpected”.
WWE Universal Championship Match: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
We go back to the ring and the unique entrance of “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt begins. The Fiend hits the ring and waits in the corner. Out next comes WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman.
The bell rings and Strowman charges, backing Fiend into the corner and putting him down. Fiend just laughs as Strowman backs off. Fiend attacks and beats on Strowman. Fiend ducks a swing and nails the Uranage. Fiend tries to snap Strowman’s neck, and again. Strowman goes out and Fiend stalks him, clubbing him. Fiend laughs some more as he goes under the ring and bring a toolbox out. Strowman turns around and Fiend decks him with it. Fiend hits him with it again and laughs. Fiend tosses the toolbox and it pops open. Fiend takes the top off the announce table but Strowman fights him off.
Strowman headbutts Fiend. Strowman charges and plows Fiend right through the barrier into the timekeeper’s area. Strowman is right up. Strowman clears some of the announce table but turns around to Fiend on his feet. They brawl. Strowman chokeslams Fiend into the edge of the announce table. It buckles. Fiend goes down in pain and the referee checks on him. Fiend is right back up but Strowman stays on him. Strowman grabs half of the steel ring steps and drives them into Fiend’s head, sending him down. Strowman stands over Fiend and stares at him.
Strowman brings it back into the ring and charges with a big splash in the corner. Strowman scoops Fiend for a powerslam but Fiend kicks out. Strowman can’t believe it. Fiend rolls to the floor and Strowman follows. Strowman sends Fiend into the barrier. Strowman shoves Fiend up the ramp and kicks him. Strowman sends Fiend into the big LED screen on the stage. Strowman kicks Fiend around and taunts him.
Strowman takes Fiend back into the Gorilla Position now. Fiend turns it around and sends him into a wall and chairs, and then another wall. Fiend drops Strowman in Gorilla with a Sister Abigail but Strowman kicks out at 2. Fiend gouges at Strowman’s eyes while he’s down now. Fiend brings Strowman back out to the stage and drives him into the LED screen. Fiend slithers over to Strowman, who has a cut on top of his head now. Fiend continues to beat Strowman around the stage. Fiend brings Strowman back to the ringside area and keeps control. Fiend rocks Strowman in the mouth and applies the Mandible Claw but Strowman resists. They get to their feet and Strowman shoves Fiend back into the apron to break the Mandible.
Strowman with a huge clubbing forearm to the chest, dropping Fiend at ringside for a 2 count. Strowman brings it back in the ring and goes for a second powerslam but stalls some. Strowman hits it in the middle of the ring for a close 2 count in the middle of the ring. Strowman pounds on Strowman while he’s down now, screaming in his face. Strowman goes back out to the open toolbox and grabs a box cutter. Strowman brings the box cutter back into the ring. Strowman starts slicing the mat up, pulling foam away and exposing the wood.
The Fiend is on his feet and he hits a uranage onto the exposed boards. Fiend with Sister Abigail onto the boards. Fiend with another Sister Abigail onto the exposed ring for the three count.
Winner and NEW WWE Universal Champion: The Fiend
After the match, The Fiend stands tall with the title as the music hits. Fiend is suddenly attacked by someone from behind. It’s the returning Roman Reigns! Reigns takes Fiend out with a Spear. Reigns unloads and then hits a Spear on Strowman at ringside. Reigns yells that he made Strowman and Strowman isn’t a monster unless he’s here. Reigns grabs a steel chair and unloads on Strowman at ringside, over and over with chair shots while he’s down. Reigns returns to the ring and takes Fiend out with another Spear. Reigns picks the title up and talks trash down at The Fiend while he’s on the mat. Reigns raises the Universal Title in the air as SummerSlam goes off the air.
