Countdown Show Notes

Paul “Triple H” Levesque was interviewed by Peter Rosenberg.

He is asked what is his most memorable accomplishment in the ring.  He says helping Randy and Dave get to the top with Ric Flair.  His street fight with Foley in 2000 put hiim on the map to be able to survive at the top.  He says Mick Foley helped to make his career.  Anything with Shawn was a highlight.  The match against Taker was imporant.

Peter asks if he looks around at what he is doing now.  He says you need to fish the legend out of people.  He says he quotes things from Killer Kowalski.

He says he hopes people learn from him to have fun because it might not last forever.

Peter asks about Jey Uso.  He says box office is about being on top.  He says Jey is not going though the motions when he is in the crowd.  His connection with the crowd is his moment.

Peter asks about the Night One main event.

Paul says when nothing on the line, a triple threat can be a problem.  This was a calculated gamble.  He says these three men are at the top of their games.  You have Seth and Roman, two people who have more history than anyone in the company at this time.   He says Punk was supposed to be involved with the Shield.  He says that Roman and Seth broke their backs to rebuild things after he left and there is a lot of animosity.

Some people think that Wrestlemania is a definitive end, but it could be the beginning.  He says he was taught to tell them where you are going to go, but you adjust.

– We are told that Worlds Collide will take place on June 7th at 3PM from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

– In a breaking news, Michael Cole announces that WWE has purchased AAA.

Officials from AAA join Paul Levesque on the panel. Cole asks Dorian what does this mean.

Dorian says it is really important to them.  It is the start of a new chapter in Lucha Libre.  For the last three decades, they have been running a company and they told their talent that they are proud.

Cole asks what does the partnership mean.  He says it is years in the making.  It is something that he has dreamed about for years.

Cole mentions how some of the top wrestlers will be seen globally. Cole says they were talking about this for years and he asks when is the first time we get to see the talent.

Triple H thanks everyone from AAA and he says they have nothing but respect for lucha libre.  Some of the best talents have come from AAA.  The impact of lucha libre resonates through generations.  He wants to futher that connection and make people proud of that style.  He says there was an article in the LA Times about lucha libre.  Paul says he was watching Worlds Collide with Brian Pillman and William Regal 30 years ago. He says you only have to look at who is at this table today.  You have Rey Mysterio, Rey Fenix, Raul and Joaquin, Penta, Dragon Lee, Santos Escobar, the Garzas, Andrade, and Stephanie Vaquer. Paul mentions that you add that to AAA talent like Vikingo, it will be an incredible show because the future flies now.

– Jackie Redmond is with Rey Mysterio. She asks him about his health situation. Rey says he wishes he could say he is feeling great.  He suffered an accident yesterday in the match with Julius Creed.  He says he is not medically cleared to wrestle tonight.  He says he has a replacement and that is a good thing.  Lucha will be put on the map tonight and his replacement is Rey Fenix.

Jackie asks Rey about the AAA acquisition. Rey says he got choked up at the announcement.  People didn’t believe he was a wrestler at that age but there was one person who believed in him, Konnan, and he was introduced to Antonio Pena and he had his first chance on National TV for AAA in 1992.  He would have said you were crazy if he was told that in 1992.  He says that this is great for the fans.  He says he is looking forward to being part of Worlds Collide in 2025 after being on the show in 1994.

Backstage:

We go to tootage from earlier in the back.  Bayley is down and she says she was attacked as Lyra checks on her.  Bayley says it is her shoulder and Pearce wants to know what is going on.

Lyra says she wants both of them. Adam says she is not going alone.  He says she has 24 hours to find a new partner.

We Hear from Stephanie McMahon:

Stephanie joins the panel. She says she isn’t used to cheers for her. She is asked about her husband being inducted. She says it is something she doesn’t take lightly.  The relationship he has with the fans is longer than what they have.  To celebrate 30 years is a remarkable journey.

Big E asks about the new things she is doing. Stephanie says she wasn’t sure if she wanted to do something but Nick and Paul pressured her.  Then she gets a text from Peyton Manning so she figures she should do it.  She says to be able to hear the stories and overcoming adversity has been a blessing for her.nn

Peter asks what is the first memory she has of Wrestlemania. She says it is sitting in the crowd at Wrestlemania 1 and watching her dad and Hogan talking about what was going to happen.  She says she didn’t know what was riding on the show and how her life could have changed.  The connection with the fans has grown every year.

Big E asks if Stephanie misses being involved with the talent.  She says she is here for everyone’s success.
