From the opening bell, the match delivered physicality and drama. GUNTHER controlled the early exchanges with stiff chops and methodical strikes. However, Jey responded with timely counters, including a key enzuigiri and Samoan Drop. Despite struggling with what appeared to be an inner thigh injury, Jey fought through the pain and showed incredible resilience.
GUNTHER nearly retained the title on multiple occasions, delivering signature offense such as a butterfly superplex, a dropkick, and a powerbomb. He even attempted to leave with the title mid-match, only for Jey to stop him with a suicide dive—only to be met with a belt shot when the referee’s back was turned.
Even after surviving a sleeper hold and GUNTHER’s signature offense, Jey mounted a gutsy comeback. He delivered a flurry of superkicks and three consecutive frog splashes—the final one landing on GUNTHER’s back. Jey then locked in a sleeper hold with body scissors, forcing GUNTHER to tap out.
The crowd erupted as the referee called for the bell. After the match, Jey’s brother Jimmy Uso came to the ring to celebrate and personally handed him the championship belt, solidifying an emotional and historic moment for the former tag team champion.
With this victory, Jey Uso officially ends GUNTHER’s reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion after 260 days, launching a new era and solidifying his place among WWE’s top stars.
