The 2020 WWE Backlash Kickoff pre-show opens up from WWE TV studios in Stamford, Connecticut as Scott Stanford welcomes us.

He’s joined by Peter Rosenberg. They hype up tonight’s big event. We get a promo for Nia Jax vs. RAW Women’s Champion Asuka. Renee Young is now joined by WWE Hall of Famers JBL and Booker T with all three checking in from home. Booker believes Jax will take the title tonight. We go to Charly Caruso backstage at the arena. She’s with Christian and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Flair believes Randy Orton will win “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” tonight. Christian talks some heavy words to Flair and makes the case for WWE Hall of Famer Edge to win. Christian says Orton has never had to work for anything in his life.

– Back from a break and Stanford discusses the WWE Universal Title Handicap Match with Rosenberg. They show a video package for that match. We also see the new music video from The Miz and John Morrison. Rosenberg isn’t happy with Stanford’s dancing. We get a plug for RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits defending against The Viking Raiders. Booker goes with Erik and Ivar but JBL disagrees. Renee leads us to a video package for Edge vs. Orton now. Renee and her guests discuss the match and the billing around it before we go to the ring.

WWE United States Title Match: Andrade vs. Apollo Crews

We go to the WWE Performance Center with Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Samoa Joe at ringside. Out first for the Kickoff match is Andrade with Zelina Vega and Angel Garza. We see WWE NXT developmental trainees in the crowd as “fans” for the show. Out next comes WWE United States Champion Apollo Crews as Mike Rome does the introductions.

The music interrupts before we get going and out comes Kevin Owens. He joins the announcers for commentary. The bell rings and they go at it in the ring. They collide with shoulders and run the ropes again. Andrade avoids a dropkick as Owens cheers Apollo on. They tangle and Andrade takes control with a submission over the ropes from the apron. The referee counts while they’re on the floor now. Crews back-drops Andrade onto the steel ramp. Crews returns to the ring and Andrade crawls after him. Andrade resets the count. Crews hits a moonsault from the apron and lands on his feet.

Crews brings it back in the ring and hits a long suplex for a 2 count. Garza has words with the referee from ringside. Andrade ends up sending Crews face-first into the middle turnbuckle. Andrade with the running double knees in the corner for a 2 count. Andrade goes to the top as Vega cheers him on. Crews cuts Andrade off. Andrade fights back but Crews unloads while Andrade is sitting on the top turnbuckle. Crews climbs up for a hurricanrana but Andrade drops him on the top turnbuckle. Andrade beats on Crews and turns him upside down in the corner. Andrade goes for the big stomp but misses. Crews gets free and catches Andrade as he charges, launching him over his head into the turnbuckles.

Crews keeps control and clotheslines Andrade, then rams him back into the corner. Crews with more shoulder thrusts in the corner. Crews whips Andrade across the ring and splashes him. Crews with a big Spinebuster for a close 2 count in the middle of the ring.

Andrade counters the Olympic Slam but Crews dropkicks him. Crews keeps an eye on Garza and Andrade takes advantage with a forearm. Crews tries to suplex Andrade to the floor but he hangs on and they both are on the apron now, trading shots. Andrade ends up hitting a big DDT from the apron for a close 2 count. Andrade and Vega can’t believe it. Crews blocks the Hammerlock DDT. Crews kicks Andrade while he’s up top now. Crews presses Andrade high and slams him. Crews with the standing moonsault and another for a pin attempt but Garza gets on the apron. Owens gets up and pulls him to the floor. Owens follows up with a big Stunner to Garza as Crews looks on. Crews goes back to Andrade and hits the sitdown powerbomb for the pin to retain.

Winner: Apollo Crews

After the match, Vega is furious with what’s happened in and out of the ring. Crews stands tall as we go to replays. Crews joins Owens on the ramp and they pose together. Owens heads to the back as Vega and her team argue. Crews raises the title on the ramp.

– Back from a break and Stanford sends us to a video package on Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy. We also get words from The Celtic Warrior in a pre-recorded promo. Stanford and Rosenberg talk about tonight’s Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles now. We get a video package on tonight’s WWE Title match next. We go back to Stanford and Rosenberg for more Backlash discussion. Rosenberg believes Orton will defeat Edge. That’s it for the Backlash Kickoff.

WWE Backlash Opener:

The 2020 WWE Backlash pay-per-view opens up with a video package featuring “The Greatest Show” by Panic! At The Disco.

We are at the WWE Performance Center and your announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves for the opening match.

Backstage:

Sasha Banks and Bayley are stopped by Kayla Braxton in the back and Bayley asks to be introduced properly. Kayla asks Bayley Dos Straps if they lose, will that affect their friendship. Sasha says their friendship is unstoppable. Bayley tells Kayla that she is trying to get into her head, but when they win tonight, she wants Kayla to look into the mirror and realize how stupid she is for asking that question.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match – Bayley and Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. The Iiconics

We go to the ring for tonight’s opener and out first comes Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. The IIconics are out next, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. We go backstage to Charly Caruso with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. There’s some

Bayley, Nikki, and Billie start things off since all three teams will wrestle during the match. Nikki with a forearm to Billie and then Bayley. Nikki continues with forearms until Bayley and Billie kick Nikki. Peyton is knocked off the apron by Billie. Sasha tags in and she goes for an O’Connor Roll but Alexa tags in and punches Sasha. All six women get into the ring for a standoff. Peyton with a shot to Alexa and a rollup on Sasha for a near fall. Sasha with a forearm to Peyton and Sasha with an arm drag using the turnbuckles for a near fall. Peyton kicks Sasha and follows with a snap mare and Gory Special. Banks goes for a sunset flip but Peyton drops down for a near fall. Alexa kicks Sasha and gets a rollup on Peyton for a near fall.

Peyton gets a near fall on Alexa for a near fall. Sasha gets a series of near falls. Sasha knocks Nikki down. Alexa knocks Billie down while Peyton knocks Bayley down. All six women battle. Alexa Irish whips Peyton into Sasha in the corner. Alexa with slaps to Sasha and Peyton. Nikki tags in and Peyton with a round kick for a near fall. Bayley hits Peyton but the referee sends Bayley back since he did not see the tag. Bayley tags in and she connects with shoulders to Nikki in the corner. Billie tags in and Billie kicks Nikki after Nikki escapes an elbow in the corner. Billie gets a near fall on Nikki.

Billie and Bayley argue while they kick Nikki. Billie with a suplex to Bayley and she poses. Billie with a waist lock and Sasha stops Peyton from interfering. Bayley with a victory roll for a near fall on Billie. Sasha knocks Alexa off the apron. Billie goes for a wheelbarrow move but Sasha with a running knee but Nikki breaks up the cover. Bayley punches Nikki and puts her on the turnbuckles. Billie takes care of Bayley. All three women are down. Alex tags in and she clotheslines Peyton and Bayley. Alexa with a flatliner to Peyton and a clothesline to Bayley. Alexa with a knee drop to Peyton and a Thesz Press to Bayley, Sasha, and Peyton. Alexa with a punch to knock Sasha off the apron.

Alexa with a cross body to Peyton and Bayley. Alexa with punches to Bayley but Bayley tags in Sasha. Peyton with a cross body through the ropes to knock Sasha and Alexa off the apron and everyone is down. Peyton with a knee to Bayley’s head while Billie held Bayley up. Peyton and Billie with their version of Magic Killer to Sasha and Alexa and Nikki with drop kicks. Nikki and Alexa with a 3D to Peyton. Alexa goes up top for Twisted Bliss and hits it but Sasha with a rollup for the three count.

Winners: Sasha Banks and Bayley

After the match, Banks and Bayley take their titles to ringside to celebrate as the music hits. They lean up against the announce table and raise their titles as we go to replays. Banks and Bayley continue to taunt the other teams on the way to the back.

– We see WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman arriving in his car earlier today. The windshield has been fixed. Strowman heads into the building.

– Cole sends us to a video package for Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy.

Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy

We go back to the ring and out comes Jeff Hardy as Greg Hamilton does the introductions. Sheamus is out next.

They lock up and Sheamus with a side head lock take down. Hardy with a side head lock and Sheamus backs Hardy into the corner. Sheamus with a shoulder to the midsection and adds a few punches to the attack. Hardy with a kick to the midsection and a drop kick to the knee. Hardy with a running elbow into the corner as he continues to work on the left leg. Sheamus with a clothesline. Sheamus with a punch but Hardy sends Sheamus over the top rope to teh apron and Hardy with a drop kick to the left knee and Sheamus goes to the floor. Hardy comes off the ring steps with a flying forearm.

Hardy grabs the ring steps but puts them down. Hardy returns to the ring and connects with a forearm and sets for a suplex. Sheamus blocks it and sends Hardy into the turnbuckles and connects with a series of elbows. Sheamus drops Hardy on the ring post and Hardy holds his knee. Sheamus sends Hardy to the mat and Sheamsu with a knee drop off the turnubuckles for a near fall. Sheamus chokes Hardy in the ropes. Sheamus with an Irish Curse and he hits a second one for a near fall.

Sheamus with a side head lock and Hardy with elbows and a jaw breaker but Sheamus with a knee for a near fall. Sheamus yells at Cole and Corey and then applies a reverse chin lock. Hardy sends Sheamus into the turnbuckles and hits a belly-to-back suplex. Both men are down. Hardy with punches but Sheamus with a clothesline. Sheamus goes up top and he misses a clothesline. Hardy with a back elbow and Hardy with Whisper in the Wind for a near fall. Sheamus and Haryd with punches but Hardy with a forearm and reverse atomic drop and leg drop. Hardy with a splash for a near fall. Sheamus gets a near fall. Hardy with a mule kick and then avoids a Brogue Kick.

Hardy with a flying clothesline and both men are down again. Hardy goes up top again and Sheamus stops Hardy and sets for a superplex. Hardy and Sheamus exchange punches and Hardy pushes Sheamus to the mat. Hardy sets for a Swanton but Sheamus with a forearm to crotch Hardy and Sheamus with White Noise for a near fall. Sheamus with boots to the chest and he sets for the Cloverleaf and locks it in. Hardy gets to the ropes to force Sheamus to release the hold. Sheamus with a kick to the back.

Sheamus sets for the Ten Beats of the Bowery on Hardy and does it. Sheamus gets Hardy up but Hardy holds on to the turnbuckles. Hardy sends Sheamus shoulder first into the ring post. Hardy with a kick and Twist of Fate. Hardy goes up top and hits a Swanton Bomb but Sheamus gets his foot on the bottom rope to keep the match going. Hardy runs the ringisde barrier but he is met with a Brogue Kick as Hardy comes off. Sheamus returns Hardy into the ring and hits a Brogue Kick and gets the three count.

Winner: Sheamus

After the match, Sheamus stands tall as we go to replays.

Backstage:

The Miz and John Morrison are talking about being co-Universal Champions. Kayla Braxton says whoever scores the win is the SOLE Universal Champion. They look shocked and pretend to be ok with it. Otis comes up and says he may cash in if they win tonight. Mandy Rose says they won’t be Universal Champion for long.

RAW Women’s Championship – Asuka (c) vs. Nia Jax

We go back to the ring and out comes Nia Jax as Tom Phillips, Samoa Joe and Byron Saxton are on commentary. RAW Women’s Champion Asuka is out next.

The bell rings and Asuka mounts offense with strikes. Asuka gets on her back and goes for a Sleeper but Jax fights back. Asuka also goes for an armbar. Jax fights her off and headbutts her. Asuka blocks a shot and turns it around in the corner. More back and forth now. Asuka with the Octopus submission in the middle of the ring.

Jax throws Asuka off her back. Jax with a big clothesline now. They trade strikes. Asuka charges but Jax knocks her out of the air with a clothesline. Jax beats Asuka around the ring now. Jax scoops Asuka and slams her in the middle of the ring. Jax covers for 2. The crowd rallies for Asuka now. Jax uses the middle rope on her as the referee counts. Jax taunts Asuka some but Asuka gets up and fights back. Asuka charges but Jax catches her with a Spinebuster for a 2 count in the middle of the ring. Jax keeps Asuka grounded with a Cobra Lock now.

Asuka fights out with back elbows. Asuka with a guillotine submission out of nowhere. Jax resists. Jax powers out and into a big Jackhammer for another close 2 count. Jax taunts Asuka, mentioning Kairi Sane. Asuka rocks her and fights. Asuka blocks a Samoan Drop. Jax goes to drop down but Asuka moves and she lands hard. Asuka with a Shining Wizard for a 2 count. Asuka with more offense and a Hip Attack for another pin attempt in the middle of the ring, and another.

Asuka unloads with kicks in the middle of the ring. Jax catches a kick and drops Asuka with a sitdown powerbomb for a close 2 count. More back and forth in the corner and out to the floor now. Asuka catches Jax in an armbar on the floor but the referee continues to count. Jax beaks it into the barrier. The referee is at 8 now. Jax scoops Asuka at 9 but Asuka slides out and drops Jax with a big kick to the head. The referee counts them both out.

Double Count Out

After the bell, the decision is announced. Asuka reacts by delivering a Hip Attack on the floor. Asuka takes her title and leaves with it as her music hits. Jax stares her down.

Backstage:

MVP is backstage on the phone with someone, calling for 30 bottles of champagne to celebrate tonight’s WWE Title change. He also needs security. Lana walks up and MVP hangs up the call. Lana is responsible for some of Lashley’s success and wants to be at ringside with him. MVP didn’t make the decision and isn’t the one who she should be having this talk with. He says but she won’t because she doesn’t want to hear him tell it. MVP excuses himself so he can go deal with the next WWE Champion.

– Cole leads us to a video package for tonight’s WWE Universal Title match.

2-on-1 Handicap Match for the WWE Universal Title: The Miz and John Morrison vs. Braun Strowman

We go back to the ring and out first comes The Miz. John Morrison is out next and they head to the ring together. Miz takes the mic and needs a little pump up before becoming champion. Morrison agrees and says maybe they should share their music video that is sweeping the nation. They introduce the new music video for their “HEY! Hey Hey” single. WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman interrupts and is out next for this Handicap Match.

Miz starts things off with Strowman but he immediately tags in Morrison. Miz comes from behind and decks Strowman with a cheap shot, allowing Morrison to strike. Braun fights back but Morrison uses his speed to get away and then kips up. Miz tags back in but goes to the floor to taunt Strowman. Morrison distracts Braun and Miz comes from behind. Braun fights him off but they double dropkick him. Morrison is legal now. He nails Strowman from the apron and then springboards in but Braun catches him. Morrison fights back but Braun drops him with a big punch.

Miz comes back in and unloads with axe handles, then a kick but Strowman swats it away. Strowman keeps dealing with the mind games. He knocks Miz to the floor but Morrison tags in and kicks him in the face while he’s on the floor. Miz tags back in and sends Braun back into the barrier from the ring. Morrison tags in and flies with a corkscrew, sending Braun back into the barrier. Miz and Morrison re-group on the floor and Miz brings it back in control. Miz drops Braun with a kick, then grounds him with a headlock instead of going for the pin.

Strowman splashes Miz in the corner but Morrison tags in and unloads on Strowman to bring him back down. Morrison hits Braun with elbows and several kicks while he’s down. Miz tags back in and they drop Braun with a double DDT in the middle of the ring. Miz covers but Braun kicks out at 1. Miz delivers It Kicks to the chest while Braun is on his knees. Miz shows off some and goes for the roundhouse kick but Braun delivers a huge right hand, then a big elbow and a boot. Braun rocks Morrison off the apron and launches Miz across the ring. Braun charges in the corner but Morrison tags in, and shoves Miz out of the way so Braun hits the ring post. Morrison with more offense on Braun and a big kick from the middle rope. Morrison with a running knee. Miz tags back in and goes to the top for a double axe handle.

Miz and Morrison with more offense. Miz with a Skull Crushing Finale and Morrison with a shot to the back of the head. Morrison covers for a 2 count but Miz pulls him off. Miz realizes he made a mistake perhaps. Morrison goes for another pin but Braun kicks out and that sends him to the floor. Braun goes on and delivers a big chokeslam to Miz. Morrison springboards in but Braun knocks him out of the air. Braun with the running powerslam to Morrison for the pin to retain.

Winner: Braun Strowman

After the match, the music hits as Braun gets up and raises the title. Miz and Morrison are down on their backs at ringside. Strowman yells out at them and laughs as we go to replays. Braun marches to the back and stops on the stage to raise the title and yell out. Miz and Morrison are still down in front of the announce table.

Backstage:

Cole shows us how AJ Styles won tournament finals over Daniel Bryan during Friday’s SmackDown on FOX to win the vacant WWE Intercontinental Title. Kayla is backstage with AJ now. He’s holding a victory celebration on this coming SmackDown and he wants Bryan to be there. He goes on about Bryan living in a fantasy world and says he is good but he’s just not phenomenal. AJ walks off.

– We get a video for the next match.

WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Bobby Lashley

We go back to the ring and out first comes Bobby Lashley with MVP. Lashley is ready to fight. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out next.

MVP distracts Drew McIntyre before the bell and Lashley suddenly attacks, manhandling him with the Full Nelson. Referees finally come to the ring and separate them after Lashley takes Drew down to the mat, still in the hold. Drew tells the referee he’s ready to go but he’s hurting. The bell rings and Lashley goes right to work on him. Drew is still wearing his ring jacket as Lashley beats him around. Lashley with a big suplex for a quick pin attempt, and another 1 count. We see Lana watching backstage on the big screen.

Lashley keeps control until Drew connects with a big knee to the gut. Drew with chops but Lashley levels him with ease. Lashley with another quick pin attempt, and another out of frustration. Lashley keeps Drew down by his arm now, working on it. Lashley finally yanks Drew’s jacket off and drives knees into the back before grounding him again to boos.

Lashley with knees to the back and a rear chin lock. Drew with an elbow and standing switch. Drew with a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall. Lashley with a swinging neck breaker for a near fall.

Lashley chokes Drew in the ropes. Lashley chokes Drew while MVP taunts Drew. Lashley gets Drew up but Drew gets to his feet and he clotheslines Lashley over the top rope to the floor. Drew runs Lashley into the ringside barrier and plexiglass. Lashley slams Drew to the floor. Lashley picks up Drew again and runs him into the ring post.

Lashley charges at Drew and Drew sends Lashley into the plexiglass and ringside barrier. Lashley and Drew exchange punches and then Drew chops Lashley. Lashley with an Irish whip and Drew with a clothesline and kick. Drew goes up top and hits a clothesline and both men are down. Drew gets back to his feet first and Drew gets Lashley on his shoulders. Lashley gets to his feet. Drew with a spinebuster and a jackknife cover for a near fall.

Lashley with a spinebuster for a near fall. Lashley with a flatliner for a near fall. Lashley waits for Drew to get up to apply the full nelson. Lashley tries to apply the hold but Drew fights out of it for a moment. Lashley sends Drew into the turnbuckles and then Lashley with forearms to the neck. Drew goes for the reverse Alabama Slam but Lashley holds on to the ropes for a moment. Drew hits the Reverse Alabama Slam for a near fall. Drew goes up top and Lashley counters the chop into a crossface. Drew gets Lashley up and Drew appears to set for a tombstone but Lashley counters into an ankle lock. Drew kicks Lashley away and Lashley goes for a spear but Drew counters with a double wrist lock and body scissors. Lashley gets to the ropes and Drew releases the hold. Drew sends Lashley into the turnbuckles and then Drew goes for a superplex. Drew with the superplex and both men are down.

Lashley nails a big Spear but Drew kicks out at 2. MVP can’t believe it. Lashley is also frustrated. Lana comes walking down the ramp now. MVP says something to her. She gets on the apron and yells at the referee. Drew shoves Lashley and he almost goes into Lana but he puts the brakes on. Drew nails a Glasgow Kiss headbutt, sending Lashley into the ropes, which sends Lana off the apron onto MVP. They both go down. Drew comes back and drops Lashley with the Claymore. Drew covers for the pin to retain.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the bell, Drew is face-down on the mat but he gets up after the WWE Title is handed to him. MVP is frustrated. Lashley is down. Lana looks on from ringside and is still down, possibly about to cry. MVP stares her down. Lashley walks over and stands with MVP, then follows him to the back after looking down at his wife. Lana starts to get emotional while still on the ground. Drew poses in the corner with the title in the air. We go to replays while Drew’s music plays. Drew talks into the camera about how Lashley brought his baggage. He continues to celebrate.

RAW Tag Team Championship: The Street Profits vs. The Viking Raiders

It’s cinematc wrestling again! We go to the parking lot where the Viking Raiders and the Street Profits are fighting and Ford slams Ivar onto Braun Strowman’s car and the alarm goes off. Both teams run inside.

They continue to fight inside the Performance Center. Ford and Dawkins send Erik into the metal door. Montez and Angelo have golf clubs while Erik and Ivar have shields. Erik also has an axe while Ivar has a bowling ball. Montez and Angelo run away and then they stop in the hallway.

Montez suggests they drop everything and fight like men.

Angelo and Montez punch Erik and Ivar and then Ford with a Superman punch to Erik. Erik iwth a hip lock and knee. Dawkins punches Erik and they fight into another hallway. Ivar picks up the bowling ball and we have a dream sequence from the bowling competition.

Ivar lines up and he connects in an uncomfortable place on Montez’ body.

Erik is down and Ivar asks if he is okay. Angelo spears Ivar through a glass window. Ivar has another dream sequence where he is visited by his turkey leg obsession.

Erik helps Ivar up and Montez helps Angelo up.

Ivar tells them to take it outside and Montez and Angelo point out that they are outside.

A number of motorcycles arrive and it is Akira Tozawa and a bunch of ninjas. He says anyting you can do they can do better. Tozawa tosses the helmet to Ivar and Ivar throws it away.

The Street Profits and Viking Raiders agree that they have to do this together.

Tozawa brings his men together and they battle but they are stopped easily by The Viking Raiders and Street Profits. Erik slams Ivar onto one of the ninjas on top of a car.

Tozawa brings his final ninja and he is very tall and he has a knife.

Ivar uses his Force Powers to summon a turkey leg and he takes a bite.

Tozawa’s friend pulls out his sword and we get a retreat from the Viking Raiders and Street Profits. Ivar is a little winded but he finally gets to Dawkins, Ford, and Erik. They fight on top of the truck. Dawkins with a bulldog off the truck to Erik into a dumpster. Ivar knocks Ford into the dumpster and then Ivar follows with a swanton.

Ivar flashes back to how much he is loved by the women while Erik is repulsive.

Jessica Karr asks what are they doing since their match is next. She tells Ivar he is cute, but not Erik.

There is a monster in the dumpster and they try to escape as this ends.

– Tom mentions that the Raw Tag Title match will not happen as a result of what we just saw.

– We take a look back at the Kickoff Show match between Apollo Crews and Andrade.

– The announcers introduce the next match and Byron says they will enhance the viewing experience for fans with this one, using unique camera angles and more. Tom welcomes us to what they believe will be “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” and we cut to a video package.

The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever: Edge vs. Randy Orton

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes Randy Orton. WWE Hall of Famer Edge is out next. The lights go out and spotlights hit. A “MSG” graphic appears over the ring under a spotlight. We hear the voice of the late WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel. He introduces Orton first and then Edge. The lights are back on now. The referee brings Orton and Edge to the middle of the ring and goes over the rules. The crowd seems much louder for this one. The bell rings and here we go.

They lock up and they go around teh ring with Orton taking Edge to the mat but they get back to their feet. Orton sends Edge face first into the mat. They lock up and Orton with a side head lock. Edge with a leap frog and arm drags but Orton avoids a third arm drag. They lock up and Edge with a side head lock. Edge with a take down. Orton with a head scissors and Orton adds more pressure to the move by pressing up. Edge escapes and he misses an attempt for a side head lock. They lock up and Edge with a side head lock.

Orton trips Edge and Edge falls to the floor. Edge gets back into the ring. They lock up and Orton backs Edge into the corner and connects with a knee on the break. Orton with an Irish whip but Edge slides to the floor and Orton tries to stop his exit. Edge kicks Orton in the head. Orton with a knee and European uppercut. Edge slides between the legs a few times and Edge with an arm drag into a hammer lock. Edge with a wrist lock. Orton goes for a head scissors but Edge stays out of the hold. Orton picks up Edge but Edge adds more pressure to the arm bar and Orton has to let Edge go.

Edge with a side head lock take down. Orton gets back to his feet and he backs Edge into the corner. Orton stomps on Edge’s foot on the break. Orton with an Irish whip and Edge floats over but Orton catches Edge. Edge sends Orton to the floor with a head scissors. Edge goes up top and Orton stops him with a punch on the apron. Orton with another punch to the head. Orton sets for a superplex to the floor. Edge blocks it and Orton falls to the apron and Edge knocks Orton down on the apron. Edge clotheslines Orton off the turnbuckles onto the apron and both men go to the floor.

Orton is bleeding and Edge slams Orton’s head into the apron. Edge punches Orton many times. Edge with a knee to the midsection as Orton hits the ropes. Edge with another knee as Orton hits the ropes. Edge with a side Russian leg sweep into a crossface but Orton fights to prevent the hold from being fully applied. Orton gets to the ropes and Edge releases the hold. Edge escapes an RKO attempt and Edge with the head and arm choke but Orton gets to the ropes. Edge with a chop. Orton with a neck breaker and Edge goes to the floor.

Orton follows Edge to the floor. Orton sends Edge into the ringside barrier and plexiglass. Orton sends Edge into the announce table. Orton goes into the ring to break the referee’s count. Orton returns to the floor. Orton sends the back of Edge’s head into the ring steps. Orton slams Edge’s head into the announce table and then Orton with a back drop driver onto the announce table. The referee continues his count and Orton sends Edge back into the ring. Orton gets a near fall. Orton with the Garvin Stomp to Edge.

Orton runs his boot laces across Edge’s face. Orton with a reverse chin lock. Edge with a forearm but Orton sends the back of Edge’s head into the turnbuckle. Orton with two suplexes and he tries for a third but Edge blocks it and Edge wtih two rolling suplexes and he hits the third. Orton and Edge go back and forth with forearms to the midsection. Edge and Orton exchange chops. Edge with more chops in the corner and Orton gets away from Edge. Orton avoids a chop and hits a drop kick.

Both men go to the floor and Orton tries to pull Edge into the ring post and he is able to do it and Edge is down. Orton tries for a superplex and Edge tries to block it but Orton is able to hit it and both men are down. Orton gets a near fall. Orton with a European uppercut. Edge and Orton both go for cross body presses and both men go down. Both men get back to their feet before the ten count. Edge with an elbow and penedulum kick. Edge goes up top and Orton punches Edge. Orton with a European uppercut and then he sets for an elevated DDT. Edge escapes and hits Edgecution. Edge gets a near fall.

Edge with a million dollar knee lift to Orton. Edge wtih another knee lift followed by a sliding forearm for a near fall. Edge goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall. Edge goes for a spear into the corner but Orton moves and Edge hits the turnbuckles. Orton with a rollup but Edge applies the crossface and Orton starts to pass out. Orton with a rollup for a near fall. Orton with an Olympic Slam for a near fall. Orton goes for a drop kick but Edge catches him and hits a sit out power bomb for a near fall. Orton sends Edge over the top rope to the floor. Orton hangs Edge on the middle rope and he hits the DDT.

Orton pounds the mat to prepare for the RKO. Edge gets back to his feet and Edge pushes Orton away. Orton with a leap frog and Edge with an Edge-O-Matic for a near fall. Edge gets to his feet and he has the look in his eyes to set up the spear. Orton leap frogs Edge and Edge hits an Unprettier for a near fall. They both struggle to get back to their feet and Edge with a forearm to the back. Orton drops Edge’s ribs on the top rope. Orton with a kick to the midsection and Edge sets for a Pedigree. Orton hits it and gets a near fall.

Edge with a uranage for a near fall. Edge goes for the Sharpshooter but Orton kicks Edge away. Edge goes for a backslide and Orton blocks it. Edge with a kick to the back of the leg and Edge gets a near fall with the backslide. Orton with a European uppercut. Edge drops Orton on the top rope and then Edge slides under and gets a near fall with a sunset flip. Edge with a rollup for a near fall. Edge with another rollup for a near fall. Orton with an RKO for a near fall. Orton backs up and he sets for the kick. Edge gets up and hits a spear and both men are down.

Edge sets for another spear and hits it but Orton kicks out at two. Edge stands over Orton. Edge comes off the turnbuckles and Orton hits an RKO but Edge kicks out at two. Edge with the head and arm choke on Orton but Orton with a knee that was questionable but the referee did not see it. Orton with the running kick for the three count.

Winner: Randy Orton

After the match, Orton is slow to get up while Edge is flat on his back in the middle of the ring. Orton crawls over, still down low to the mat, and has more words for Edge in his face. Orton is saying something to Edge about going home to be with his family, and tell them Uncle Randy said hi. Orton gets back to his feet and has his arm raised while the music plays. We go to replays. Orton hits the corner to pose as referees enter the ring to check on Edge. Orton watches from the ramp as Edge apparently refuses help from the referees. Edge looks disappointed and defeated as Orton smirks back at him from the ramp. The 2020 WWE Backlash pay-per-view goes off the air.
