As noted, Bobby Lashley turned heel this past Monday on RAW, viciously wrapping Owens’ legs around a turnbuckle after their match.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lashley’s heel turn was decided just hours before Raw went on the air. There was a discussion about Lashley on whether he would be better off as a heel or face, especially since they were going to lose Owens on the heel side.
Ultimately, it was decided that they need heels so he should turn and it was better to do it right away since they already needed to do an injury angle to write Owens off television.
Lio Rush did an excellent job at getting the fans to turn against Lashley during the match. He was wearing an IFB in his ear and Vince McMahon was in his ear and was personally feeding him lines.
At one point during the match, you could see the IFB cord hanging out of Rush’s jacket.
