WWE RAW Results - August 13, 2018

We are live from Greensboro, North Carolina and Ronda Rousey makes her way to the ring.

Ronda starts off by mentioning the passing of Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart. She says any loss is heartbreaking but to lose a father… fathers are our pillars of strength in a hostile world. A reassurance that everything will be okay. When that reassurance is ripped away, we have to face the fact that our fathers have been raising us to be the pillars of strength when they are gone. She tells Nattie to stay strong. She says that we all love her.

Ronda says that Nattie was the first person to welcome her and she will be the first to defend her in her absence. Alexa cheated to beat Natalya time and time again. On Sunday, she will beat Alexa to become the Raw Women’s Champion. Ronda brings out the person who will be beating Alexa right now, Ember Moon.

Alexa Bliss comes out with Alicia Fox. Alexa tells Ronda it is good she gets as many friends as possible. She says that she is sick of the people who Ronda kisses up to each week. Alexa says that all of you are saying that her match on Sunday will be a foregone conclusion. Alexa says that Ronda has had three matches while she is a five time champion. Ronda is an overhyped rookie. SummerSlam will not be your crowning achievement, it will be you utter humiliation.

Alexa says she is sick and tired of hearing about Ronda and seeing that look on your face when you come out. Alexa says she can do that look too. She is sick and tired of Kurt Angle trying to protect everyone but her Women’s champion. He protected Roman Reigns but he will let you hang around ringside. Alexa says she will not give Ronda the chance to hurt her the way that Ronda did to Alicia last week. Alexa says that she talked to Baron Corbin and he suggested that she get her own security. Alexa says these men are highly trained so don’t try to do anything.

Bliss and Fox head to the ring with security as her music hits.

Bliss ends up knocking Rousey out of the ring with a cheap shot while she talked with Moon before the bell. Rousey comes back in the ring and Bliss hides behind security. Rousey takes out three of the guards and the fourth guy retreats from the ring. Fox approaches next but Rousey takes her down as Bliss scrambles to the floor. Rousey and Moon stand tall as her music starts back up. We go to commercial.

Alexa Bliss vs. Ember Moon

We are back and the match is joined in progress. Alexa hides behind the referee and punches Ember. Alexa with a head scissors. Ember escapes and Ember with arm drags into an arm bar. Alexa with a side head lock. Ember with a shoulder tackle and front face lock but Alexa with a single leg take down and punch. Ember with a head scissors and leg sweep. Ember with a sliding flatliner for a near fall.

Alexa goes to the floor and Ember with a baseball slide. Ember sends Alexa back into the ring and Alexa grabs the ropes. Alexa kicks Ember away. Ember with a snap mare and reverse chin lock. Alexa with a drop kick. Ember with an enzuigiri and Alexa rolls to the floor but Ronda gets too close as we go to commercial.

We are back and Moon gets a near fall with a rollup. Bliss sends Ember to the mat and hits a handspring double knee drop for a near fall. Alexa with a reverse chin lock. Ember with a jaw breaker but Alexa with a clothesline for a near fall. Alexa returns to the reverse chin lock. Ember with a snap mare to escape followed by a rollup for a near fall. Alexa with a drop kick. Alexa gets a few near falls and then Ember gets a near fall with a rollup. Alexa with a punch. Alexa slaps Ember but that only angers Ember and Ember with clotheslines.

Ember wtih a series of kicks and an enzuigiri. Ember with a running hip strike into the corner. Ember with a tornado move into a suplex for a near fall. Rousey attacks Fox and sends her into the ringside barrier. Alexa hits Ronda from behind and then Alexa sends Ronda into the ringside barrier. Alexa returns to the ring and Ember hits a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster and then Ember goes up top for Eclipse and hits it and Alexa breaks up the cover and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Ember Moon (by disqualification)

After the match, Alicia attacks Ember but Ronda gets into the ring and she sends Alicia around the ring with arm drags. We go to commercial.

– We are back and the announcers talk about Smackdown 1000 from Washington DC in October.

– We take a look back at what happened over the last two weeks with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman.

– We take a look at Paul’s response to his prediction about the Universal Title Match at SummerSlam. We see a deleted scene from the interview when Paul cut himself off and Renee wanted to know what he was saying.

Backstage:

RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is backstage with Constable Baron Corbin, yelling at him for booking matches tonight. Corbin says RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon approved his matches and he doesn’t need to listen to Kurt. Drew McIntyre and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler walk in, taunting him about Seth Rollins. Angle says Rollins had a promotional tour of China but he will be here for the contract signing.

– Baron Corbin makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Baron Corbin vs. Tyler Breeze

They lock up and Corbin backs Breeze into the corner but Breeze with a wrist lock. Corbin with a reversal and running shoulder tackle. Corbin with the half nelson and chin lock. Breeze with a kick and thrust kick followed by a drop kick to the temple. Corbin goes to the floor and Breeze comes off the turnbuckles and Corbin catches Breeze and throws Breeze into the ringside barrier. Corbin with kicks to Breeze when they return to the ring.

Corbin returns to the half nelson and chin lock. Corbin send Breeze back to the mat. Breeze sends Corbin over the top rope to the floor and Breeze goes for a pescado but Corbin moves and Breeze hits the floor. Breeze lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt on the floor and hits an enzuigiri. Breeze with a shoulder on the apron and he flips back into the ring and Corbin hits Deep Six for the three count.

Winner: Baron Corbin

After the match, Corbin has his arm raised as the music hits. We go to replays. Corbin takes the mic and laughs, bragging on how good he is. Corbin says this was just a small taste of what he’s going to do to Finn Balor on Sunday. Fans boo. Corbin says now it’s time for Balor to show us what he can do. Corbin introduces Balor’s opponent and fans boo as Jinder Mahal makes his way out with Sunil Singh. Corbin shakes hands with Singh and Balor and stops before leaving the ring. Corbin says he’s not finished, he was just catching his breath. Corbin introduces Jinder’s partner for this Handicap Match and out comes Kevin Owens. Owens hits the ring as his music plays. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Before the match starts, Kurt Angle comes out to encourage to crowd to tell him he sucks. Kurt says Stephanie may have approved this match, but he makes the matches around here. Kurt says he can add to this. It will not be a handicap match, it will be a tag team match. Kurt announces Finn Balor’s partner and it is Braun Strowman.

Braun Strowman and Finn Balor vs. Jinder Mahal and Kevin Owens

Balor and Mahal start things off and lock up. Mahal with a clean break. Mahal with a side head lock and wrist lock. Mahal with a knee to the midsection followed by a side head lock take down. Mahal with a shoulder tackle and a sunset flip but Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick. Owens tags in and Mahal with shoudlers before Owens enters the ring. Owens kicks Balor and connects with a knee to the back and applies an arm bar. Owens with a knee and he sends Balor into the turnbuckles. Mahal tags in and he chops Balor and follows with a snap mare and Owens is tagged back in.

They make a wish with Balor and Owens with an Irish whip. Balor gets his feet up and avoids a splash. Strowman tags in and Owens tags in Mahal. Strowman with a shoulder tackle while Owens goes into the crowd. Strowman misses a clothesline and Mahal with punches. Strowman with a clothesline. Strowman with a kick to the midsection. Strowman with an Irish whip and splash into the corner.

Strowman with a shoulder tackle. Strowman with a clothesline to the chest and Balor tags in. Strowman slams Balor onto Mahal and Balor gets a near fall. Mahal with a jaw breaker but Balor with a drop kick to send Mahal to the floor. Balor is almost tripped by Owens but it distracts him. Strowman chases Owens and Balor with a plancha onto Mahal and Owens.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Mahal with a half nelson and chin lock. We see footage from the commercial break when Mahal hit Balor with a back elbow. Mahal with a kick to the midsection and Owens tags in and connects with an elbow drop or three. Owens with punches to Balor. Mahal tags in but he stops Balor from making the tag. Jinder with a jumping knee drop to the ribs for a near fall. Mahal returns to the half nelson and chin lock. Mahal with a bear hug and he runs Balor into the corner. Balor gets his boots up and sends Mahal to the floor. Balor crawls across the ring to make the tag but Owens tags in and he applies a front face lock. Balor with a forearm and Owens stops Balor.

Balor with slingblade. Strowman and Mahal tag in and Braun with shoulder tackles and he knocks Owens off the apron. Braun with a clothesline and he goes to the floor to pick up Sunil and run him into Owens. Strowman misses a charge into the corner and Mahal with a Harley Race knee but it has no effect. Strowman with a power slam for the three count.

Winners: Braun Strowman and Finn Balor

After the match, Owens runs to the back and Strowman follows. Corbin hits End of Days on Balor when Balor was looking at the ramp.

Backstage:

Kurt Angle is on the phone and he is trying to get in touch with Seth Rollins. Dolph and Drew return for an update on Seth’s travel plans. Drew says that Seth is afraid of them. Drew says if Seth does not sign the contract, then the match won’t be official. Kurt says that Seth will be there. Dolph wants to look at the contract to make sure that everything is okay.

Bobby Lashley is in the back and we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Greensboro’s own Ricky Roberts is in the ring and he says his favorite is Elias. He will make it to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Elias will come to him and say those magical words.

Elias comes out and he wants to know what is he looking at. Elias takes his seat on the stage. He does not know why Ricky is out here and he says there is only one Elias in this world and you are looking at him. Elias says you might be a big fan, but are you big enough to go on WWE Shop and purchase Elias merchandise? He will be impressed if Ricky can beat and humiliate Bobby Lashley.

Elias says that he has sold out Wrestlemania, he has sold out Madison Square Garden three times, his record is setting records. He has a concert on Saturday at the Grammercy. On Sunday, he will perform his greatest song. Elias says that tar heels are a strong and resilient people. It must take an unmatched strength and resilience to wake up knowing you live in this pile of garbage known as Greensboro.

Bobby Lashley comes to the ring and he tells Ricky to come up with a different shtick because they already have someone with no talent who plays the guitar. Roberts hits Lashley with the guitar and it explodes. Lashley with a HUGE spinebuster to Roberts.

Backstage:

Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel are in the locker room and Bo is told to B Positive. Bo says the odds are lower than usual because they will be facing two teams and they don’t even have to be pinned to lose. Bo says their chances are 33.33333333 percent. Curtis tells Bo to check his math. Bo says he checked and no matter how you do the math, they are in trouble. Curtis says math did not get them where they are. You cannot spell Raw Tag Team Champions without B Team (and Bo mentions a lot of other letters).

– Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Triple Threat for the RAW Tag Team Titles: The Deleters of Worlds vs. The Revival vs. The B Team

Wilder and Dallas start things off and they lock up. Bo with a rollup for a near fall. Dawson tags in and they punch Bo in the corner. Dawson sends Bo into the turnbuckles and chops Bo. Dawson with a suplex and he floats over for a near fall. Dawson tags Wilder back in and Bo tries to fight them off and hits a running forearm. Hardy tags in and clotheslines Wilder a few times and sends him into the turnbuckles.

Hardy with a splash to the back. Matt goes to the turnbuckles for an elbow to the back of the neck. Matt signals for deletion and he goes for a Twist of Fate but Dawson tags in and they hit a Hart Attack on Hardy for a near fall. Dawson with punches. Dawson with a forearm to the head. Wilder tags in and he is dropped onto Hardy for a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Hardy with forearms to Wilder followed by a neck breaker. Dawson tags in but Wyatt is tagged in. Wyatt with a flying cross body and then he hits a splash into the corner. Wyatt with a uranage to Dawson and then he gives one to Wilder. Dallas comes off the turnbuckles and he is given a uranage. Wyatt tries to give one to Axel but he escapes. Wilder with a sunset flip for a near fall. Wilder goes for a suicide dive but Wyatt catches him and hits a uranage on the floor. Dallas takes care of Wyatt on the floor.

Matt goes to the apron and then he goes up top for a moonsault but Dawson with a punch to stop him and he goes to the turnbuckles as well. Hardy with a superplex onto everyone on the floor. Wyatt sends Dawson into the ring and Dawson with a kick. Wyatt with a chop. Axel tags in and Wyatt with a double Sister Abigail attempt on Wilder and Dawson. The Revival hits Shatter Machine and Axel covers Wyatt for the three count.

Winners: The B Team

– Roman Reigns walks in the back and the B Team celebration merges with Roman and they go elsewhere in the back. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

Back from the break and Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre enter Kurt Angle’s office. He asks if everything is alright with the contract. Ziggler brings up a paragraph saying something about Seth Rollins having the right to have someone in his corner at SummerSlam. Angle offers to take it out but that would mean Drew McIntyre can’t be in Ziggler’s corner. Ziggler isn’t worried about it because he doesn’t think Rollins will show up to sign the contract tonight. Ziggler and McIntyre walk out.

In the Arena:

We go to the ring and out comes Roman Reigns to a mixed reaction.

We are back and Dolph and Drew are back. Kurt asks if the contract is satisfactory. Dolph has an issue with the provision that Seth can have someone in his corner. Kurt says since Drew will be in Dolph’s corner, Seth gets to have someone in his corner. Dolph is okay with the provision.

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring.

Roman says leave this place better than I found it. That is something he tells himself every day. The truth is he is never going to accomplish that goal with Brock Lesnar here. That means that it is time for Brock Lesnar to go. Roman says he is sick and tired of hearing about him, talking about him, looking at him so it ends on Sunday at SummerSlam. At SummerSlam, he is taking back his Universal Championship. Roman says he will send Brock so far back into the UFC that Brock’s head will be up Dana White’s ass.

Paul Heyman interrupts and he says it is a NEW DAY, yes it is. Paul says if he would steal a line from someone on Smackdown, he would steal a line from The Usos because they are the future of the tag team division. Speaking of the future of a division in WWE, Paul says he is laying his eyes on the number one contender for the Universal Title, Roman Reigns.

Roman says Paul must be confused. Last week, Paul was able to cry on cue so Roman says he is looking forward to seeing what Paul will do tonight.

Paul says this is your week, your week of history. Why wait until Sunday to make history. You can start making history tonight. Paul says he almost let something slip out last week. He mentioned there was an ‘unless’. That unless is having Paul Heyman telling you each and every one of Brock Lesnar’s deep and dirty secrets. Paul says that Roman thinks he can beat Brock Lesnar. With Paul Heyman in your corner, you will walk into Sunday knowing you will beat Brock Lesnar and that is a spoiler.

Roman says he already knows this. He beat Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia. Brock wouldn’t have made it out of that cage if he didn’t spear him through it. It would have ended quicker if it wasn’t for Paul.

Paul says guilty as charged and he offers no excuses. Paul says it was because of him. He hopes that the sins of the father will not be visited upon his children. Paul says he is a visionary and he can see the future. One week from tonight, after you slay the beast . . . side by side. Paul does his opening promo but with Roman Reigns as his client.

Roman says Paul is trying, but it is not good enough. Roman tells Paul that he was groomed at a very young age for that. He was taught by his father to swim with sharks in this business. He was taught to know which ones were drowning because they are the most dangerous ones. Roman says Paul is not worth saving and he wishes Paul the best in his future endeavors.

Paul says he is drowning with the knowledge from driving in the car with Afa and Sika. Your father taught Paul. Paul gives Roman a document and he tells Roman to give him his answer on Sunday at SummerSlam.

Roman accepts the document and Roman looks at it.

Paul suddenly sprays Roman in the face with something, perhaps pepper spray. Reigns has been blinded as he stumbles back into the corner. Heyman leaves the ring to boos. A trainer checks on Reigns but quickly retreats when the music of The Beast hits.

Reigns still can’t see as Lesnar marches to the ring, smiling. Lesnar drives big knees into Reigns in the corner. Lesnar with more big knees, driving Reigns to the mat in the middle of the ring. Lesnar droops Reigns into a chokehold and he starts fading. Heyman looks on from ringside and smiles while holding the title on his shoulder. Lesnar breaks the hold but Reigns is out. Lesnar stands tall to a mixed reaction as Heyman raises the title at ringside. Lesnar exits the ring and takes the title from Heyman. Lesnar and Heyman march to the back while Reigns recovers on the mat. Lesnar marches back down the ramp and hits the ring. Lesnar waits behind Reigns as he slowly gets up. Lesnar scoops Reigns and drops him with a big F5 in the middle of the ring. Fans chant “one more time” but Lesnar exits the ring and heads to the back, stopping on the stage to look back at Reigns. We go to commercial.

– We are back with a Moments Ago Moment of Paul Heyman’s attack on Roman Reigns and subsequent follow up from Brock Lesnar.

The Author of Pain and Mojo Rawley vs. Bobby Roode, Titus O’Neil, and Apollo Crews

Akam and Crews start things off and Akam with a forearm. Rezar tags in and kicks Crews and gets a near fall. Rezar works on the neck and then he tags Akam back into the match. Akam with a reverse atomic drop and Rezar with a round kick. Akam gets a near fall. Akam works on the neck. Akam misses a splash and Crews with two enzuigiris. Mojo tags in and knocks Titus off the apron. Mojo goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Crews lands on his feet and Roode tags in and hits a clothesline off the turnbuckles. Roode with a running clothesline into the corner.

Mojo iwth an Irish whip but he runs into a boot and Roode with a blockbuster for a near fall. Titus clotheslines Rezar over the top rope but Mojo sends Titus to the floor. Roode with a Glorious DDT for the three count.

Winners: Titus O’Neil, Bobby Roode, and Apollo Crews

– Officials are checking on Roman Reigns in the medical office.

– Still come, RAW will celebrate the career of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. We go to commercial.

– We are back with a video package remembering Jim Neidhart, who passed away earlier today.

– We are told that the Revival will face the B Team for the Raw Tag Titles on the Kickoff Show on Sunday. Also on the Kickoff show will be the Cruiserweight Title Match between Cedric Alexander and Drew Gulak. We will also see the mixed tag match featuring Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega against Lana and Rusev.

– We take a look back at what happened during the match between Alexa Bliss and Ember Moon. Back to commercial.

– We are back with Ruby Riott saying while she was gone, everyone’s best friends were able to get over their differences. It is easy to get along when things are going right. We will see what happens when they face a riott.

Sasha Banks (with Bayley) vs. Ruby Riott (with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan)

They lock up and Sasha with a wrist lock and Ruby with a forearm. Sarah grabs Sasha’s leg as she hits the ropes. Sasha gets a near fall with a rollup. Sasha with an arm bar. Ruby with punches but Sasha with a kick. Ruby with a rollup for a near fall. Sasha with Banks Statement but Ruby gets to the ropes. Sasha misses a baseball slide. Sasha with a kick to the face. Ruby sends Sasha into the ring steps and then hits a super kick to the hand that is caught in the steps.

Ruby sends Sasha back into the ring and gets a near fall. Ruby with kicks to the injured arm. Ruby with a wrist lock but Sasha with an inside cradle for a near fall. Sasha with a back slide for a near fall but Ruby stomps on the hand and then hits a thrust kick for a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ruby with a wrist lock as she works on the fingers. Sasha with an arm drag but Ruby holds on to the arm and slams it into the mat. Sasha with chops to Ruby and Sasha uses the ropes for an arm drag. Sasha tries to take Ruby to the mat but she cannot do it. Sasha with a suicide dive onto Logan. Sasha with a knee from the apron. Liv pulls Sasha off the apron and then tries for a clothesline but misses. Bayley clotheslines Liv. Ruby with a kick to Sasha as she returns to the ring and Ruby gets the three count.

Winner: Ruby Riott

– We take a look at some of Seth Rollins’ appearances in China last week.

Backstage:

Kurt asks if Seth Rollins is here and he is told that Seth is not here. Baron says that one of the biggest matches at SummerSlam may not happen because Kurt waited until the last minute. Baron says that Kurt cannot wait any longer. We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

Back from the break and RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is in the ring for a SummerSlam contract signing. Angle first addresses the heinous attack on Roman Reigns by WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Angle says the trainers report that Reigns will be able to compete on Sunday and he’s not going to suspend or strip Lesnar because he wants Reigns to bring the title back to RAW each week as we deserve. Angle says Lesnar is the worst champion in history. The music interrupts and out comes Drew McIntyre with WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler and McIntyre run Angle down for slacking at his job. Angle says he was just about to introduce them. Ziggler wants to know if he’s defending on Sunday or not. Angle goes to introduce Seth Rollins but the music doesn’t start. He tries again but no music. Ziggler says Rollins isn’t coming out and Angle knew it all along. Ziggler tells Angle to go ahead and call it. Ziggler and McIntyre continue with shots on Rollins and Angle. McIntyre says believe it or not, they do respect Rollins. He talks about why their movement came to RAW and says they respect Rollins because he fights and made them work hard but in the end, Rollins was the architect of his own downfall. Ziggler says Rollins pushed himself too hard for the fans. He busted his ass every night for the WWE Universe and that is a one-way street, brother.

Ziggler goes on about how the fans turned their backs on him and will do the same to Rollins, then the next guy and the next guy. Ziggler says the vicious cycle will never end because of the fans. He also talks about how the fans never stick around through the hard times but now for the first time, someone actually has his back and doesn’t just ride his coattails to collect a paycheck. He goes on praising McIntyre and running his mouth with the typical Ziggler promo. Ziggler tells Angle to hand him the contract so they can officially make it a forfeit for Rollins. Fans chant “burn it down” as Ziggler signs the contract.

Ziggler hands the contract back but the music hits and out comes Rollins to a big pop. Rollins apologizes for being late and for the fans having to sit through Ziggler’s promo. Rollins admits he’s been here for a while but wanted to wait until Ziggler signed the contract because he was afraid Ziggler would change his mind when he heard what Rollins has to say. Rollins says he was dealing with travel issues but they weren’t for him. He mentions the contract clause where it says he can have someone in his corner at SummerSlam, saying it was put there for a reason. He’s tired of dealing with them 2-on-1 and says since The Scottish Psychopath will be in Ziggler’s corner, he figured he should have The Lunatic in his. Fans pop and really get loud when the music hits for Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose looks to be in great shape and makes his way to the stage. Ziggler and Rollins toss the contract signing table out of the ring to prepare for a fight. Ambrose and Rollins rush the ring as a brawl breaks out. Ziggler gets dumped. McIntyre takes a superkick from Rollins and a Dirty Deeds from Ambrose as Ziggler looks on from the outside. Ambrose and Rollins stand tall and get hyped up as fans cheer. Ambrose’s music starts back up as Rollins signs the SummerSlam contract. The SummerSlam go-home RAW goes off the air with Rollins and Ambrose doing The Shield’s fist bump in the middle of the ring.
