WWE Smackdown Results - June 26, 2018

We are live from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California with The Miz in the ring for another must see edition of MizTV.

Miz quickly introduces his guests for tonight – SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers. Miz says they all have something in common – they destroyed Daniel Bryan last week. The WWE Universe knows about Miz’s beef with Bryan but he wants to know why Rowan and Harper attacked him. They just stand there and fans start chanting for Bryan. Miz knocks the crowd and tells them to show respect to the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Miz says the Bludgeon Brothers and himself have something in common. They all proved how easy it was to dismantle Daniel Bryan. Miz says his agenda was crystal clear but he wants to know why did Luke and Erick do it.

Miz holds the mic out without getting too close to Luke or Erick. Miz tells the crowd to show Luke and Erick some respect. Miz says he thinks he knows the reason, but he will let them explain it, but first a video feature of Daniel saying he was ready to beat the biggest and baddest. Miz explains that is Act One. The protagonist is a dreamer who is a little overconfident. Then he gets a rude awakening. We see the stare down between Daniel and the Bludgeon Brothers as Daniel made his way to the ring.

That is Act Two. Daniel leaves his friend Renee to enter a world with men twice his size. Daniel interrupted a celebratory moment between the Tag Team Champions. Daniel is a glory hound. Daniel cannot stand it when someone gets more attention than him. Here is an early plot twist. Daniel is the villain in this film. Miz shows is favorite part of the movie, Act Three. We see Luke and Erick attacking Daniel. Miz says Luke and Erick did a wonderful job and he wonders if they were auditioning to be part of the new MizTourage. They can be grips on Ruff Ruff Ref.

Luke knocks the mic away and they approach Miz but Daniel Bryan’s music plays and he makes his way to the stage.

Miz says what a shocker, Daniel Bryan trying to steal your spotlight again. Daniel tells Miz to shut up. Daniel tells Luke and Erick they cost him a shot at the WWE Championship. You are big and scary but size is not important as heart. He says he is not afraid of the two of you, or the Miz, who is standing behind you. Daniel is not asking who will fight him, but who will fight him first.

Erick appears ready and Luke takes the mic and he tells Daniel he never learns. You will learn tonight.

– The New Day is backstage somewhere getting a pancake protein shake mixed up by their lackey. Xavier Woods grabs it and looks like he might be downing it to prepare for his match. Still to come, Woods vs. Rusev. We go to commercial.

– We are back and Daniel Bryan will face Luke Harper tonight.

Xavier Woods (with Big E and Kofi Kingston) versus Rusev (with Aiden English)

Aiden serenades Xavier about his awful waffles and then he tells AJ Styles that he will lose on Rusev Day.

Woods with a side head lock and Rusev with a shoulder tackle. Rusev with boots to the midsection but Woods with a kick and chop. Woods with forearms and a head scissors that sends Rusev into the ropes and Big E holds up a sign as Woods hits a cross body to the back. Rusev with an Irish whip but Rusev runs into a boot. Woods goes for the Honor Roll but Rusev with a spinebuster.

Woods is sent to the floor and then Rusev sends him into the announce table and ringside barrier. Rusev sends Woods back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Rusev with elbows to the chest and then he applies a reverse chin lock. Woods sends Rusev into the turnbuckles but Woods runs into a boot from Rusev and Woods is down. Rusev with kicks to the legs in the corner. Rusev with a round kick to the chest.

Rusev kicks Woods and Woods with a punch. Rusev with a back elbow and Woods is down again. Rusev with forearms to the kidneys but Woods avoids a third one and connects with an elbow and follows with punches. Rusev with a bear hug. Woods is able to get out of the hold and then he punches Rusev. Woods with a kick to the leg and a thrust kick. Woods with chops. Woods with a rolling elbow and then he charges into the corner but he is sent to the apron. Woods with an enzuigiri followed by a slingshot flatline for a near fall.

Woods tries to get Rusev on his shoulders and he succeeds. Rusev with elbows to escape. Woods with forearms but Rusev with a knee. Woods with a super kick but Rusev with a Samoan drop. Rusev gets a near fall. Rusev puts Woods on the turnbuckles and connects with punches. Rusev sets for a superplex but Woods stops Rusev. Woods with punches to send Rusev to the mat. Rusev misses a shoulder into the corner and Rusev hits the ring post. Woods goes to the apron and then he goes up top for the springboard elbow drop but Rusev gets to his feet and Woods misses.

Rusev with a round kick followed by the Machka Kick. Rusev stomps on the back and applies the Accolade. Woods taps out.

Winner: Rusev

Rusev says that tonight was not about Xavier Woods, pancakes, Booty Os or trombones. This was about AJ Styles. You are scared and it showed when you punched Aiden in the face. That was a preview of what is going to happen at Extreme Rules. He is going to break down the door of AJ’s house and take the title. It will be a great Rusev Day.

– Jeff Hardy is in the back and he says adrenaline is coursing through his membranes. It is clarifying his vision. He says he is ready to fight.

– Tom mentions that Shinsuke Nakamura suffered an injury last night and he is not medically cleared to wrestle tonight so the match is off and Jeff Hardy has issued an open challenge.

– We go to commercial with Jeff Hardy making his way to the ring.

Backstage:

We are back and Lana and Naomi are in the back. They are still arguing about the dance off. Naomi stops talking when the cast of GLOW shows up. Allison Brie tells Naomi that they are all fans of hers. Naomi says that Allison’s character is a lot like Lana. They go back and forth. They suggest that Lana and Naomi should be working together. Naomi says that Lana is a good dancer and Naomi says if they could get on the same page, they could be ravishing together.

Open Challenge for the WWE United States Title: Eric Young vs. Jeff Hardy

We go back to the ring and Hardy’s music is still playing as he waits for his opponent. The lights go out and the music hits as SAnitY comes out – Killian Dain, Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe. Young will be getting the title shot. We get formal ring introductions from Greg Hamilton.

The bell rings and Young goes right to work on Hardy, unloading into the corner. Young keeps control and Hardy goes for an early Twist of Fate but can’t go through with it. Young ends up avoiding another big shot by retreating to the floor and away from the ring. We go to commercial.

We are back and Young works on the neck. We see footage from the commercial break of Young hitting a neck breaker to get a near fall. Young with a forearm and he gets a near fall. Young goes to the turnbuckles and he lifts Hardy and chokes him. Young with a double sledge off the turnbuckles and he gets a near fall. Young continues to work on the back. Young with a chin lock. Hardy with elbows but Young gets a near fall. Young returns to the neck.

Hardy with punches but Young with a hard Irish whip. Young gets a near fall. Hardy with punches but Young with an Irish whip. Young misses a charge into the corner and Hardy gets a near fall with a rollup. Young with a clothesline and he gets a near fall. Hardy with a jaw breaker and he punches Young. Hardy with a running forearm followed by a reverse atomic drop and leg drop followed by a drop kick for a near fall.

Both men go for clotheslines and both men are down. Wolfe and Dain see the Usos make their way to ringside and all four men fight on the floor. Eric Young goes after the Usos and the referee calls for the bell.

No Contest (Jeff Hardy retains title)

After the bell, Hardy decks Young while he’s brawling with Uso on the mat. Everyone gets involved and a big brawl breaks out in the ring. SAnitY is cleared from the ring as the babyfaces stand tall and we go to commercial.

Jeff Hardy, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso vs. Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain, and Eric Young

The match is joined in progress and Dain fights with Jimmy and Jey tags in. Dain with a flying cross body and Jey is down. Wolfe tags in and he sends Jey into the apron. Young tags in and Wolfe with a back breaker and Young comes off the turnbuckles and gets a near fall. Young works on Jey’s neck. Jey with punches but Young with an elbow and kick. Young chokes Jey in the ropes and then Dain gets in a shot when the referee was not in position. Dain tags in and he kicks Jey. Dain with a suplex and he gets a near fall.

Dain works on the neck. Jey knocks Young and Wolfe down on the apron but Dain keeps Jey from making the tag and he connects with an uppercut. Dain knocks Hardy and Jimmy off the apron. Dain with a splash into the corner and Young tags in. Dain with a shoulder into the corner and Young with a punch. Jey lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt and he sends Young to the floor. Hardy is pulled off the apron by Young when Jey was about to make the tag.

Young with an elbow to Jey’s head. Dain tags in and they Irish whip Jey into the turnbuckles. Young is sent to the floor and Dain is sent shoulder first into the ring post. Jimmy and Wolfe tag in. Jimmy with clotheslines and a thrust kick followed by an uppercut. Jimmy with a Samoan drop to Wolfe. Jimmy is sent to the apron but he punches Wolfe and goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.

JImmy has a super kick blocked and Jimmy with a dragon whip and then he hits a running hip splash into the corner for a near fall. Young breaks up the cover. Hardy stops Young. Jey with a super kick to Dain but he stays on his feet. Jimmy and Jey with a double super kick and then Jey with a plancha. Wolfe with a German suplex but Hardy tags in. Jey with a super kick and Hardy with a swanton for the three count.

Winners: Jimmy Uso, Jeff Hardy, and Jey Uso

– Becky Lynch is in the back and she almost hits a production worker since she had headphones on and was focused on her preparation. We go to commercial.

– We are back and we see Becky Lynch on WWE.com and Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose interrupt. Becky challenges one of them to face her tonight and Sonya accepts.

Becky Lynch vs. Sonya Deville (with Mandy Rose)

Lynch avoids a few kicks and takes Sonya down and gets a near fall. They go for a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock and Becky takes Sonya down and gets a near fall. Sonya gets to her feet and she connects with a knee and shoulder tackle. Sonya covers and Becky with a matrix escape. Becky goes for an O’Connor Roll but Sonya holds on to the ropes and connects with a back heel kick. Sonya with a waist lock take down. Becky sends Sonya to the floor and Sonya shows some frustration.

Sonya pulls Becky to the floor and she tries to send Becky into the announce table, but Becky reverses and sends Sonya over the announce table. Becky with a rollup for a near fall. Sonya with a kick and a rollup for a near fall. Sonya with a front face lock. Becky with a drop kick and Sonya goes to the floor. Becky goes for a baseball slide but Sonya moves and she sends Becky into the apron and ringside barrier. Sonya gets a near fall when they return to the ring.

Sonya punches Becky and kicks her as well. Sonya with a body scissors and chin lock. Sonya with a double leg take down for a near fall. Becky with punches and a European uppercut. Sonya gets a near fall with a back slide. Sonya with a kick for a near fall. Sonya returns to the chin lock and body scissors. Sonya with a forearm to the back and she sends Becky into the turnbuckles. Sonya misses a splash into the corner and Becky with a double jump side kick.

Becky with clotheslines and a leg lariat. Lynch with an exploder for a near fall. Sonya with a knee to Becky and she gets a near fall. Sonya with another near fall. Sonya misses a sliding knee and Becky gets a near fall. Becky tries for DisArmHer but Sonya with a rollup for a near fall. Sonya with a kick and she gets a near fall. Becky gets a boot up and Mandy distracts Becky long enough to allow Sonya to pull her off the apron but Sonya can only get a near fall. Becky sends Sonya into Mandy and Becky applies DisArmHer and Sonya taps out.

Winner: Becky Lynch

– James Ellsworth is in the back and he puts on his Asuka mask. Tye Dillinger is shocked at what he is seeing and he puts the mask back down. James asks if he is a ten without the mask. Tye tells him that he is a one. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back with Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega. Vega says they sent a message when they put Sin Cara on the shelf. Is that why Almas has not been in the ring? Is everyone afraid of him? If you know best, you will stay out of their way.

In the Arena:

James Ellsworth makes his way to the ring. James says there are two types of men in the world. There is a type who likes to wear sandals and talk about their feelings. Then there are men like him who do what they want. He says he was attacked by Asuka for no reason. He tells Asuka this is a man’s world and when you mess with the bull, you get the horns. James says he loves and respects women. He says he has a love life so hot you can fry and egg on it. He says the feeling is mutual. When it comes to Asuka and him, there is no love. There is absolutely no respect. He says he wasn’t ready for Asuka last week, but he is ready this week. He tells Asuka to try to come out and kick him this week. He dares her.

Smackdown General Manager Paige comes out to the ring. She asks James what is he doing. She tells James that he knows that Asuka isn’t here. He knows that is the case because he was in the back asking everyone. James knows that Asuka is in Japan with her family. Paige says your arrival at Money in the Bank means that Asuka deserves some love and respect. Carmella will defend her Women’s Title at Extreme Rules. James says that Asuka does not deserve a rematch. Ellsworth says he sees the way that Paige looks at him. He says she is out here for a date. Paige tells Ellsworth that is exactly what she is out here for. Paige asks James about next Tuesday.

James asks if she is serious and he says yes. Paige tells James that next week, he has a ‘date’ or a match against Asuka.

– Luke Harper stares at the camera and we see Daniel Bryan getting ready by warming up with Gallows and Anderson. We go to commercial.

Daniel Bryan vs. Luke Harper (with Erick Rowan)

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out comes SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers, Harper and Rowan. Daniel Bryan is out next.

The bell rings and they go at it. Harper goes to work on Bryan to start. They go out and right back into the ring as Bryan unloads into the corner. Bryan goes for a slide through the ropes as Harper is on the floor. Harper catches him and drops him. Harper works Bryan over on the floor now. Bryan turns it around and unloads as fans start to rally for him but Harper clubs him down and cuts him off. Harper keeps Bryan grounded now.

More back and forth between the two. Harper gets sent to the floor. Bryan runs the ropes for a dive but Harper catches him. Harper sends Bryan over the announce table and then over into the timekeeper’s area. We go to commercial.

We are back and Harper with a chin lock but Bryan with punches to escape. Harper with a knee to the midsection followed by a chop. Harper with an Irish whip and Bryan flips over Harper but when he goes for a clothesline he is caught with a Bossman slam for a near fall. Harper with a running forearm to the back and then he hits a slingshot senton for a near fall. Harper with a rear chin lock and he uses Bryan’s arm to add pressure.

Bryan with a jaw breaker and he escapes. Harper returns to the reverse chin lock. Bryan with double sledges but Harper with a punch to send Bryan into the ropes. Harper runs into a boot from Bryan and Bryan with a drop kick to the arm. Bryan with a running drop kick into the corner and then he hits a second one. Bryan goes for a third one but Harper catches Bryan and hits a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Harper with a forearm to the upper back and Harper returns to the reverse chin lock and he adds a body scissors. Bryan with punches and kicks to Harper. Bryan kicks the arm again and Harper with a drop kick.

Harper with a chop in the corner. Harper follows with a head butt and another chop. Harper puts Bryan on the turnbuckles and Harper with a palm strike. Harper sets for a superplex but Bryan with punches to send Harper to the mat. Bryan with punches and he hits a tornado DDT. Bryan with kicks to the injured shoulder and then he misses the round kick. Harper with a thrust kick and Bryan gets to his feet and he gets a near fall with a rollup.

Harper misses the discus clothesline and Bryan is able to lock in the Yes Lock. Rowan breaks up the hold before Harper taps out and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Daniel Bryan (by disqualification)

After the bell, The Bludgeon Brothers double team Bryan and destroy him as the referee looks on. The pyro suddenly hits as Kane makes his return for a pop.

Kane marches to the ring and stares the champions down. He rocks Harper first and then Rowan. Kane fights them both off and goes for a double chokeslam but they attack him. Bryan goes to the top and dropkicks them from the top. Bryan and Kane team up to clear the ring for a pop. Bryan looks up from the mat as Kane stares at him.

Fans chant for Team Hell No. Bryan is up on his feet now as fans want them to hug it out. Kane steps to Bryan and opens his arm for the hug. Fans chant “yes!” at Bryan now. Bryan shakes his head and it looks like he’s going to leave without hugging. Bryan suddenly almost jumps into Kane’s arms and they embrace as fans pop. Bryan’s music hits as he starts the “yes!” chant.

Kane joins in but the music interrupts as Paige comes back out to the stage. She makes Team Hell No vs. The Bludgeon Brothers with the titles on the line at Extreme Rules. Bryan’s music hits again while he and Kane celebrate. SmackDown goes off the air.
