With an assist from hip-hop star Lil Yachty, Trick Williams reclaimed the WWE United States Championship by defeating Baron Corbin at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia.
The championship victory materialized after Yachty successfully survived a five-minute challenge against Corbin earlier in the broadcast, officially earning Williams his championship rematch later in the evening.
In-Ring Action & Decisive Finish
The title clash turned physical early, with Williams sending Corbin into the announce table before checking on Yachty at ringside. Corbin responded aggressively, ramming Williams into the ring post and tossing Yachty over the ringside barrier. Inside the ring, Williams mounted momentum with a flying clothesline, a flapjack, rhythmic corner kicks, and a sit-out Death Valley Driver for a close near fall.
Corbin regained control by dropping Williams onto the top rope, dropping him onto the announce table, and slamming him into the steel ring steps. Throughout the mid-match stretch, Corbin grounded Williams with heavy elbows, an elevated clothesline, and a Deep Six for multiple near falls.
The closing sequence descended into chaos as Corbin attempted to utilize the United States Championship belt as a weapon:
- Ringside Interference: Yachty grabbed the title belt away from Corbin, allowing Williams to connect with a cyclone kick for a near fall.
- Ref Distraction: Corbin struck Williams with the belt while the referee attempted to clear Yachty from ringside, scoring a visual near fall.
- Championship Finish: Williams escaped Corbin’s End of Days finisher and delivered a decisive jumping knee strike to secure the pinfall victory.
With the victory, Williams begins his second reign as United States Champion following the temporary setback to Corbin.
