The personal animosity between Paige and Nikki Bella escalated to unprecedented heights on the September 4 episode of WWE SmackDown, with Paige dropping a heavily personal bar targeting Bella’s past high-profile relationship with John Cena.
The confrontation unfolded backstage in Cleveland, Ohio, during an interview between Nikki Bella and WWE correspondent Cathy Kelley. Paige interrupted the segment to address the ongoing fallout from SummerSlam 2026, where Nikki turned on her following their six-woman tag team match.
“You Just Slept With It” — Paige Co-Opts John Cena’s Motto
Paige made no effort to hold back, questioning Bella’s motives and accusing her of harboring long-standing jealousy before co-opting Cena’s signature “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” catchphrase to deliver a direct personal insult.
“I’m not gonna touch you, baby girl. Don’t worry. But I love how uneasy I make you feel,” Paige began. “Do you know what I realized, Nikki? You haven’t liked me since day one, not just ‘Mania, back in the day. You have never ever liked me. Do you know why? Because I built my career on hustle, loyalty, and respect. You just slept with it.”
Paige concluded the segment by issuing a warning ahead of the blue brand’s upcoming international broadcast in Mexico City, setting up an official singles match between the former Divas Champions.
“In Mexico City next week, baby girl, you better bring it,” Paige warned. “Because if not, I’m gonna end your career quicker than your last relationship.”
Escalation Of A Bitter Personal Feud
The heated exchange follows weeks of tension that originated when Paige cost Nikki Bella a WWE Women’s United States Championship match against Jacy Jayne on the August 28 episode of SmackDown.
With the match officially confirmed for the September 11 broadcast in Mexico City, the rivalry has shifted from a personal fallout into one of the most volatile storylines in the women’s division.
