WWE has implemented temporary management changes following an incident that took place after WWE Night of Champions 2026.
WWE Announces Temporary Management Changes
During the June 29 episode of WWE RAW, Michael Cole informed viewers that Gunther and Nick Aldis have both been disciplined following a backstage altercation stemming from Saturday’s premium live event.
The situation developed after Gunther came up short in his bid to win the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Triple Threat main event against Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes. Zayn ultimately left the event as champion, while Gunther’s frustration carried over backstage.
Tensions escalated behind the scenes after the show, leading to a heated verbal exchange between Gunther and SmackDown General Manager Aldis. The confrontation turned physical, prompting WWE officials to take immediate action.
As a result of the incident, both Gunther and Aldis have been “sent home.” In addition, Aldis has been placed on “administrative leave” while the situation is addressed.
With Aldis temporarily removed from his duties, Adam Pearce will now oversee both RAW and SmackDown moving forward until further notice.
The development creates a shift in WWE’s on-screen authority structure, as Pearce assumes control of both brands during a period of uncertainty following the high-profile clash.
