Cody Rhodes to Challenge Drew McIntyre for Undisputed WWE Title on SmackDown

Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre SmackDown March 6 – Cody Rhodes will get another opportunity at the Undisputed WWE Championship on the March 6 episode of WWE SmackDown. General Manager Nick Aldis confirmed the match during the Elimination Chamber post-show, making it official that Rhodes will face Drew McIntyre for the title.

The announcement follows the chaotic main event at Elimination Chamber 2026 in Chicago. During the men’s Chamber match, McIntyre interfered and targeted Rhodes. He struck Rhodes from behind with the championship belt. However, the plan did not succeed. Rhodes recovered and hit McIntyre with Cross Rhodes inside the structure.

Moments later, Rhodes stood up and walked into an RKO from Randy Orton. Orton secured the victory and earned a World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. While Orton moved on to a title opportunity of his own, Rhodes remained focused on reclaiming the Undisputed WWE Championship.

McIntyre previously defeated Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on the January 9 episode of WWE SmackDown. That win strengthened McIntyre’s hold on the championship and intensified the rivalry between the two.

Now, Rhodes has a direct chance at redemption. The March 6 SmackDown will feature the championship bout as the headline match. In addition, the show will determine the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The updated lineup for the March 6 edition of WWE SmackDown is as follows:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
  • WWE Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders Decided
